Re: Starmer v Truss – the first PMQs – politicalbetting.com
I don't think is anyone is claiming there will not be winners and losers from a correction or that it won't be difficult, expensive and painful for some. The status quo of the last decade has also been difficult, expensive and painful for some in the housing market, whilst also helping promote a zombie economy for the… -
Re: Biden remains strong in the betting to win WH2024 – politicalbetting.com
I wonder what will be a priority - another immigration bill and another police powers bill? I'm guessing there will be a "Labour are on the side of layabouts and shirkers" bill, and perhaps there will be an anodyne "only Tories want to build houses - but definitely not near any of our voters" bill. Am I being too cynical,… -

Really. Actually, not that easy, as the legal systems and property law are different! I'd be worried about my house, for a start. The interesting point here is that the Anglo-Scottish border has been utterly stable since the 1500s - almost as loing as, or perhapos longer than, any other national border in the world (one village… -

Does SAGE even bother to meet now that the entire strategy has been blown to pieces. Seems there is sod all lockdown in my local few streets today. Road very busy. Tons of people coming and going to each other's houses, families popping in, chatting in the gardens, smell of a barbeque as we get into early evening. -

Your child got adverts for casinos because somebody in your house was looking at betting websites. The YouTube algorithm looks at your browser history and its internal memory of stuff that has been accessed from your home and suggests ads based on your interests. It wasn't clever enough to distinguish between your child… -

Interfering in the market would probably lead to all sorts of unintended consequences, some of which are hinted at Mr Nabavi. It's a supply problem, pure and simple, a large part of which has been the refusal to build on the green belt. You could get tens of thousands of new low-cost houses and flats on Hyde Park. Just… -

It has been suggested in the past that many ex-villains have invested their ill-gotten gains in the private landlord game. Capital gains and a steady income subsidised by housing benefits courtesy of that nice Mr Duncan Smith. Keeps them off street corners, I suppose, or wherever they sell drugs and snide fags these days. -
Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Theresa May’s big speech – a round up of reaction
Farron is at least getting a hearing. And filling in some of that void where the Labour Party used to be. One consequence of May making her speech outside Parliament is that the LOTO is not given pride of place in responding and Farron, who may or may not have even been called in the House, has taken full advantage.… -

She was dire on GMS this morning. Ranting and raving about building 8 new towns of social housing but having them all for sale and then when questioned about all the racists readmitted to party she lost and started on about six foot drunks with broken glasses etc. No wonder she has been hiding for 2 months. -

Of course it is the WTO terms as that automatically means significant tariffs with our biggest trading partner. It is also a myth to suggest the government has not been pushing for a comprehensive system of mutual recognition which was on May's radar as she made clear at the Mansion House speech in March.… -

Paddy Power has still not settled its "Size of the House of Commons" market which was a big talking point on here back in 2012 before the boundary changes were scrapped. Many people (including me) backed 650 seats at prices a bit better than evens. Seems ridiculous that this still hasn't been settled. -

The opposition to the Speaker system is not the same as opposing John Bercow. The Buckingham Lib Dems put a proposal to the House of Commons Procedure Committee to reform the system. Once elected Speaker by the HoC, the Speaker would become the MPs MP for the St Stephens constituency - and a by-election would be held in… -

That is exactly what May wanted, she was goading it, she ended up having to use Sadiq Khan as the bogeyman who was trying to stop Brexit. The removal of payments for solar panels is one of the stupider things this government has done. Bringing attention to it and demanding a reversal would be a useful thing to have done.
