Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » If there is a London lockdown then YouGov finds it would have
I understand the Government has to play its cards close to its chest. It can't just say for example, 'tomorrow at 1900 we will lock down the UK', as that would give rise to over 24 hours of pandemonium. So Johnson has a difficult job balancing information with practicalities. That said he was dire tonight. Whitty and… -

Obama really has been a waste of space. Even his speech after the Paris bombings came across as a rote repetition by a somewhat disengaged Professor having to repeat something that should be obvious. Was there no-one in the White House who could have taught him to say "Liberte Egalite Fraternite" properly? -

I was talking about this with relatives yesterday. The way the referendum has been handled is a bit like asking Scotland if they would like to buy a house, but they won't find out where it is, how big it is, or what it costs until afterwards. It's a real leap in the dark. Nobody really seems to know what will happen. -

Bear in mind this map has been devised by an estate agent - many of the red areas were complete dumps and are still so, albeit with gentrification in some streets. So this is about the direction of travel, from a very low base in some postcodes. Finchley is, and will remain, a smart suburb with plenty of big houses. -

One town that looms large in the mind of many Brexiteers is Calais, about which they have a favourite saying that they daren't repeat in public. Since the 1979 Lancaster House agreement, their main reference point beyond Calais has been Australia, for its "points system" and for its reluctance to conduct maritime rescues. -

What on Earth is this guy thinking? He’s claiming that a newspaper published a story obtained from “hacking his phone”, when the same story has been published elsewhere previously. Oh, and he turned up a day late, officially because he was at a birthday party for a three-year-old, unofficially because he was at SoHo House… -

On the contrary. The British have always taken a keen interest in constitutional matters. The issue is change has only ever come about because of the need to gain advantage - so ultimately, all changes have been both piecemeal and partisan. To prove that: 1832 - the need for the Whigs to split the government and secure a… -

No, the MSM shreiking about Putin and Russia is bizarre. UKIP supporters are more likely to be favourable toward Putin for several reasons: -A UKIP supporter is typically independent minded, and can discern the difference between facts and media smear campaigns; indeed they are currently the victim of the same thing, and… -

So landlords are deliberately depriving themselves of good tenants? Well, it's a thought. In the real world, landlords can only go on experience and risk. That means some people get unfairly treated, but, rather than lambasting landlords who just want their property to be respected and their rent paid, shouldn't you turn… -
