Re: Why I’m betting that Trump won’t be the WH2024 nominee – politicalbetting.com
This is definitely true, OTOH different clusters of *dumb beliefs* are very specific to age groups and places. Some of the world has loads of people who are extremely racist, while simultaneously being very nice. And hardly anyone believes that if you leave the fan on overnight it'll blow all the oxygen out of the room and… -

The problem you have is that much housebuilding in England involves stick a cul-de-sac on to a green field and whacking on a row of bog standard house types: job done. The developer then goes on to congratulate themselves on building something trivial like a pavement to a bus stop and maybe something like a set of traffic… -
Re: How opinion has shifted since GE2019 – politicalbetting.com
The world has moved on, which is why the Right is responding with new ideas and new solutions! Like… er… well… Sunak has suggested teaching slightly more maths in schools…. And… um… I guess the NatC conference thinks we should all read the Bible, get (heterosexually) married and have more kids… and Suella thinks the… -

On the subject of Egypt, @Nigelb posted a fabulous article on (a) making desert areas more fertile, (b) ameliorating global warming, (c) generating cheap electricity and (d) doing all this without requiring people to change their lifestyles. Are you defending racists? I tend to agree with our Russian? (no capital letters) friend that racists are stupid, period. I suspect he is alluding to the idea that if racists didn't want European immigration they probably want Indian Sub-Continent immigration even less, due to their creed and colour bigotry surpassing… -

Re: The Cheque is in the Post – politicalbetting.com
Having watched the Post Office story unfold in Private Eye for what seems like a decade, I am surprised that there has not been a crimianl investigation in relation to the conduct of the board of directors and senior executives of the Post Office and Horizon. I hasten to add that I am not saying that a crime was committed…
