Re: Can the LDs become the third party once again? – politicalbetting.com
On topic, I would rate the LDs chances as less than evens, and more like 3-1. First: this is mostly not about SNP-LD battles. Edinburgh West is still mostly Edinburgh West. Fife North East gains a bit of Glenrothes (and is technically an SNP seat), but the LDs should be favourites there. Orkney & Shetland is unchanged. One… -
Re: No seat is safe: Tory by-election defences – politicalbetting.com
Technically yes but in practice it is taken to refer to the Americas. Fun fact - I don’t know which hemisphere, E or W, I was born in. Idly curious (my Mum and Dad were born in the E, my brother in the W) I found out that Whipps Cross Hospital lies on the Greenwich Meridian and, unless I actually go there and make… -

Re: Rishi’s summer and autumn of discontent – politicalbetting.com
A thought on that so called polling at Mid Beds. Is this for real or just an interpretation of the company's latest NATIONAL poll. All the evidence suggests that if anyone was going to win the seat in a By Election it is the Lib Dems, they are after all 8-15 on at the bookies whilst Labour are way outsiders. Seems a piece… -

Labour showing a disturbing tendency to revert to Brown’s double counting: Labour plan to give teachers £2,400 to stop them quitting https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-66078820 They’ve already pledged all and indeed far more than the money that ‘abolishing tax breaks for private schools’ would raise for other things.… -

It actually missed about 12 of them out, but I think that may be because it was defining them as ‘water and sewerage companies’ rather than ‘water companies.’ It also missed off Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water which operates in the Marches as well. Amusingly, Ofwat lists ‘Severn Trent’ and ‘Hafren Dyfrydwy’ as separate companies.… -
Re: Would a new Tory leader save a number of seats? – politicalbetting.com
Apparently the Norwegians say they can hardly fence in all of their nature. Kudos to them. There have been some deaths there, but they are mostly suicides - indeed I think there’s only been one death, of a Spanish visitor, where a suicide note has never been found and it is assumed to have been an accident. Lots of people… -

Re: The July 20th by-elections – Could the Tories lose all three? – politicalbetting.com
FWIW, I have been asked to go and help in Somerton & Frome and Mid Beds, but not the other two. That is where the Lib Dem organisation is strongest. From a party political point of view, logic dictates that Labour ought to be concentrating on Uxbridge. Especially since our Tory Mole informs us that all the Hindus there are… -

Re: The Sunday open thread – politicalbetting.com
@rcs1000 There is something in that argument , but I don't think that is what he is saying. I think he sees the idea of town planning as being socially destructive and a massive cost with no benefits. The usual libertarian thing. But the contradiction is, that when you go and look at the libertarian societies they hold up… -
