On all three of those schemes it turned out to be a win for HMG. I'm convinced the only reason they wanted the UK to join the EU scheme (despite the UK not actually being a member) was ideologic… (View Post)6 -

The pressure for the UK to join would have been enormous had it still been a member state. See what happened with the scheme a couple of the states tried before it was absorbed into the EU scheme. (View Post)1
