My ideal outcome would be for every democracy not run by a crook or madman to team up to present a united front to not threaten China but to offer an alternative. So whilst Starmer is right to desire more cooperation with the EU we also need to look for much broader alliances with countries all round the world. America can…

Largely driven by the gut realisation that the American Century is ending. They are mad as hell about that, even if they couldn't put it into any coherent words. That's why you get all the anti China stuff, the desire to onshore manufacturing (even nearly worthless stuff), anti-trade tariffs that hurt Americans, rejection…

Just deal with them like the rioters in 2011. Very swift court cases, and longer than normal prison sentences all round.

50 years from now: Why's nobody called Donald anymore?

China and Iran to do a deal to guarantee the security of the country and strait. A total strategic failure for the US, and Israel. Also massively changing the global balance of power where China is seen as the safer pair of hands than the US.
-
Starmer's entire Premiership is going to be dominated by responding generally badly to crazy things Donald Trump has done, which was easily anticipated once it became clear Trump was going to run again. Despite this obvious calamity heading our way the UK government has done little to prepare, and even now seems to be…

Just waiting for Iran or some other enemy to carry out their own version of Operation Spiderweb.

I just heard that on the news. The following item was 10,000 more troops heading to the region.

Israeli intelligence gets a lot of praise at times, as they can be ruthless and audacious, but it's also clear that they have real blindspots that lead to debacles. Like Oct 7th, and this Iran regime change mess.

The one that is also two weeks away from a "nuclear suicide vest?" Thanks to Vance for that warning.

"Asked".

Their position is weaker, but I think they are willing to sacrifice a lot more than the US government seems to think they will.

He's extremely stupid. He's ignorant and utterly incurious. He thinks he knows everything already. He's extraordinarily dishonest. He's totally immoral. He surrounds himself with sycophants. He's only interested in personal gain, and almost physically incapable of considering what other actors, be they US citizens or…

They are in fact already bombing Iran-backed groups in Iraq right now. That's assuming the "AI" doesn't accidentally target a school, hospital, mosque etc.
-
He must have skipped the Sermon on the Mount when reading his bible.
-
That's a good article. It's the sort of thing Trump could have done with reading before he started this debacle.
-
It was weird listening to her because it was all "biggest", "fastest", "hardest", "most ever" and I'm thinking that Iran took a lot more during a long and brutal war that occurred within living memory, and that they might prove willing to drag this one out further than the US is.
-
I was listening to Leavitt talking about how Iran should accept they are defeated, and I thought "has nobody in the current administration heard of the Iran-Iraq War?" It's like they do not understand the country they are waging war against.

McSweeney was the most senior appointee in the PM's office. The "lost" phone was apparently a "work" phone. They idea that he can just lose it, and it's not backed up, and any lost messages are shrugged off as no big deal is ridiculous. In any normal line of work where there was an investigation going on actions like this…

It was going to say it sounds like /r/combatfootage, but it can't be because that subreddit would also show the failiures and the successful Iranian strikes. So Trump would literally be better informed if he was doom scrolling.
-
They are going to look incredibly dodgy if they have to argue "actually we don't routinely backup the phones we issue".
-
If "them" can track the phone it implies it's under an MDM, not a regular user account, because in that case "he" would have to track the phone. If an MDM is running on a civil service issued phone I would be amazed if it's not enforcing a regular full backup, and it it isn't then it's almost certainly breaking regulations…

So you are complaining that a trade deal leads to too much trade and would prefer a trade deal that has less trade? That's your gotcha?
-
This really might end up taking the record for the dumbest war ever, against some fierce competition.
-
So that would be all of them? I guess Americans no longer need to be online.

There have been terrorists, of different types, present in London continuously since before any of us were born. These latest lot look like amateurs compared to some of the nutters we've seen in the past. If he was really worried about this sort of thing he'd be keener on making sure foreign intelligence agencies can't…

A few days ago Trump said that a former President had spoken to him and they had said to him that they regretted not attacking Iran. The press went round the offices of the living ex-Presidents and all of them denied having spoken to Trump recently. It can't really be the case that Trump's peace talks are fictitious can it?
-
Doesn't that imply that the person they are speaking to is not in charge, and has little power? So Trump's doing a "deal" with a person who can't actually deliver a deal, and can't even be named because the people in actual power would kill him.
-
People are worrying about recession and I'm thinking if Trump's latest threat doesn't work then next one will be nuclear. We are not seeing any meaningful opposition to Trump from within the government or military, so what's going to stop him ordering Tehran to be levelled?
