    It was only on this website that I found out about the scale of grooming gangs of this demographic. There are dozens of them! From watching the main news channels, you'd only hear about Rotherham.

    What I find most scary about them is that the girls involved were often raped by 50 or 60 men, yet only five or six get charged. It's alarming.

    From another perspective, there is a crumb of hope in that: instead of the crimes taking a decade or more to be discovered, yet alone taken to trial, they're being detected and convicted much quicker. Not only does that get some scum off the streets, but it sends a much stronger message to others who might commit these hideous crimes.

    There will always be people who want to perform such acts. As iSam said on the previous thread, such crimes are compounded when authorities either allegedly (and I'm being very kind in saying that) turn a blind eye, as at Rotherham and elsewhere, or utterly muck up, as in the Myles Brasbury case.

    Crimes in 2014, conviction in 2015 is better than crimes in 1997, conviction never.

    I remember one comment Mike made early on in the campaign, possibly after the first poll, when he said "it was a very difficult race to call", which was clearly wrong. It wasn't a difficult race to call at all: it was a difficult conclusion to comprehend.

    But raw numbers tell a different story. 10 per cent turnout among affliated trade unionists who were automatically enrolled meant close to 200,000 votes. In the last mayoral selection, close to 24,000 affliate members voted. This time, it was just 9,875. Why does that matter?

    Well, among other things, it suggests that if, as looks likely, the Conservatives pass the Trade Union Bill, we now have a clear idea just how many trade unionists will opt-in to paying into Labour's political funds: not very many at all.

    The highlight of next week will be watching the Labour benches at PMQs. I'm curious to see what Cameron's tactics are: does he go for the kill or toy with the nutjob for a while.

    Let's say Corbyn gets elected tomorrow - and turns into a media horror show, with the Labour polling heading to low twenties. Corbyn is a dead man walking.

    How much of that rubs off onto Khan? He will have been elected during the same clusterfuck brain fart....

    Then mid-term blues show up, and they're loyal, because that's how Labour backbenchers roll.

    And then it's too late to change.

    Lib Dems and UKIP have, potentially, a great opportunity.
