Our noble journalist class are now at the ‘I always thought Mandelson was a smelly poo pants and said as much’ stage of revelation. Never waste a crisis if there’s even a tiny chance for self congratulation.
They all fawn (even if they know there's something fishy going on) when the cat's still in the bag, and then fall over themselves to say they knew and were saying so all along when it isn't.

Weak.
Sure, the retrospectoscope gives a very clear view.
The interesting thing is to look at who in current public life is still at the fawning over stage but will be shown to be the latter. I have a few ideas.

"he attracts negative publicity and controversy, rather like manure attracts flies" was hardly fawning.
And is it self congratulation if you go on to point out that you apologised for saying what turned out to be true ?
Journalists, and particularly BBC journalists subject to an impartiality obligation, are in a more difficult position than PBers, who can express their judgments and/or prejudices quite freely.

Whilst the inglorious Mandelson passed inside information to an individual, sitting on the Tory Front Benches will be toe highly dishonourable Member for Witham who commited a far greater Treason.
Passing State Secrets in an unathorised trip to Tel Aviv to a mass murderer. Found guilty of breaking the Ministerial Code, should have been criminally charged yet still sat in position.
Guarded by Boris and Truss and left there because neither the gutless Sunak or Badenoch have the backbone to remove her!
Who was it who said The Drugs don’t work.
Too many tuesday nights on the Tilton with the Longbridge Boys lol

He should have been called out on it. Such things are almost always untrue, but can intimidate people.
Now what Johnson has done pales into insignificance compared to what Mandelson has been accused ( with evidence) of*.
