New: Andrew Rosindell has become the fourth serving Tory frontbencher to join Reform UKNigel Farage: "Andrew is a great patriot. The Tories’ lies and hypocrisy over the Chagos Islands betrayal has tipped him over the edge, and we are delighted to welcome him to our ranks."

And also a good job that he doesn't have an - ummm - interesting past in other ways (putting it delicately).
If he isn't a disaster for Reform I'll be very surprised.

(He and i share a similar trait when it comes to subtlety.)
The extraordinary meeting of EU leaders to discuss Greenland could take physically as soon as Thursday, 22 January, according to EU officials.
It will take place in Brussels after leaders attend the WEF in Davos.
Especially since in the South the LDs have often been the traditional enemy.
Princess Eugenie has cut off all contact with her disgraced father in the wake of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was stripped of his royal titles in October over his links to the paedophile financier, is said to be 'devastated' at the estrangement from his younger daughter, which followed months of further damaging revelations last year about his relationship with Epstein.
It is understood Eugenie, 35, is refusing to speak to Andrew and did not visit him at Christmas.

That would stop any thought of an American invasion.
And we might get some half decent commentators on the snooker.
I was reading this, rather than the graph, pillock.
"Labour’s non-dom gamble backfired – now it wants them back. Calls for a global investor visa as officials seek ways to stem the flow of rich people moving abroad."
Depends how Trump responds to the rumour of counter-tariffs (which remain nothing more than a “drawing up plans” story right now).
"Leave Greenland alone!" got a massive cheer.

The only saving grace he has is that Wilson hasn't been much better this evening.

It is sad when you see such dysfunctional families.

Over half (4) were previously Conservative Party MPs. 5/7 previously held elected positions as Conservatives (Pochin was a Conservative councillor and Westminster candidate). All 7 were previously members of the Conservative Party. (The only Reform MP who had not previously been a member of the Conservative Party was James McMurdock).
The booing was muted though. The cheer for the Greenland shout was the big thing.
..
Although I see he was “Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs”, which must say something about the paucity of talent on the Tory benches, given he’s borderline mentally sub-normal.
Greenland.
Things might get volatile if we get close to the reality of a full on tariff war, but that wouldn't necessarily be to Trumps advantage as he wouldn't be calling all the shots.
I watch with interest. The US and UK stock markets have been on such a long bull run that some correction would appear overdue, so maybe this latest attempt at bullying will give traders an excuse to ease down a bit?
I read this on Twitter and was amazed.
How did no one rein her in !

While he wouldn't like it it's probably no worse than where he's going to end up in Norfolk and may put Trump off visiting Epstein island..
China is at a 17-year low as they continue to reduce exposure. Very canny.
The relative share of total U.S. debt held by foreigners has decreased from nearly 50% in the early 2010s to 33% today.
A lot is held by central banks. It can be weaponised alongside tariffs. Now is the time. If the markets think it is a possibility, they will react.
Maybe he can come up with a Greenland policy for Reform UK.
I’m a bit sad to learn that they really are repellent, grafting shits.
It's very sad when any family breaks up.
China is also acquiring physical gold.
Tactically seizing Russian assets may have been right, but strategically it may come back to bite them.

As for what the UK should do... Putting troops, etc. into Greenland is a decision for Denmark and the UK would struggle to sustain a meaningful deployment without Danish support anyway.
What I would do if I were PM is start throwing some fucking grit in the UK/US military co-operation machine. Delay and deny overflight and landing permissions. Withdraw from all joint exercises. Just stop issuing new military visas. That wouldn't hurt straight away and wouldn't be an escalatory shock but they would have to start extending tours and gapping posts. If all of Europe did this together the US military would start to get mightily disgruntled and Congress/the Senate would start to pay attention to them.
At the moment Trump is setting the narrative and dictating the terms. Starmer and the rest of them just look fucking irrelevant, powerless and inactive through fear.
🇳🇴 Norwegian prime minister says Trump repeatedly begs for the Nobel Peace Prize
Norwegian prime minister Jonas Gahr Støre says that Donald Trump raises the same issue every time they meet. According to Støre, Donald Trump repeatedly complains, pleads, and demands to know why he has not been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
Støre explains that he gives the same answer every time. The decision is made entirely by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, which operates independently and without any involvement from the Norwegian government.
It is, as Støre reportedly notes with thinly veiled frustration, a concept Trump appears fundamentally unable to grasp.

The Chinese unwind is massive - and continuing.
2 Apologies to anyone who listened to me saying that Rozzer was a loyal Conservative in a way that Jenrick wasn't.
3 Eagles is right about his people skills; from the point of view of being seen around the place, and available for weddings and bar mitzvahs, he's the best. I doubt there are many public buildings in Romford that don't have a portrait of the monarch, generously presented by the local MP.
4 But despite being an MP since 2001, I don't think he was ever a minister. Admittedly, he was unavailable in the mad bit of summer 2022 when BoJo was desperate for anyone to serve, but it's still indicative of his skillset.
5 The Chagos thing has to be nonsense, doesn't it? Not that he doesn't believe in their cause, but it surely isn't a reason to jump to Reform now.
6 I wonder how his old party will respond.
7 So much for the really careful vetting that el Nige promised us.
8 The council elections for Havering (3.5 months away) will presumably be even more of a shitshow than they were going to be already. (One of our local Conservative councillors, talented and going places but deselected for insufficient loyalty to the Andrissimo, recently changed his social media pic to the Traitors logo.)
9 Did I say blimey?
Sir Keir probably won't be too distraught either, uber Thatcherite Rosindell joining Reform is another step to perhaps giving some 2024 Labour voters who have gone Reform since some second thoughts
And tournament ruined
EDIT Or was until she died seven years ago!
How can they evict the Danish dog sled?
Totally crap penalty.
