From Russia with love – politicalbetting.com

Asked who they think party leaders sympathise with more – majorities say that Badenoch & Starmer sympathise with Ukraine and v.few say Russia. Many don't know on Polanski. But Farage stands out 26% think he sympathises more with Ukraine, only slightly fewer, 21% think he sympathises more with Russia

The problem is that quite a section of the UK public have been warped by Russian misinformation.
They tend to be low information voters.
With four, five or even six other Parties it won't take much for a minority of 30% of the vote. to win power.
    34% just won a 180 majority.
    FPTP is creaking.

It can managed 5m of tench crossing - even London roads aren't that bad.

The turns on tarmac will be much easier than on soft ground - bit poor on length for good turning on soft ground.

All round machine gun coverage (if you count the deflector plate) - good for the fruitier areas of the metropolis.

OK, conditions inside are a tad worse than the Piccadilly line in high summer. But then again, everyone will be warm.

    It's perfect.

The Donald is happy because he won a prize that neither Obama nor Biden won.

Everyone else in the world ought to be amused because of the credibility of a FIFA Peace Prize.

The fact nearly a quarter of voters think Farage sides with Putin's Russia in its conflict with Ukraine, far more than think any other main UK party leader sympathises with the Russians, gives clear ground for tactical voting to beat Reform. Though Farage would state the median voter thinks he is neutral on the Russia and Ukraine conflict

This is unwatchable fawning by FIFA

    Embarrassing and pathetic

    Well don’t watch it then,

    I’m watching The Chase.

The Sinnerman dicked them with 1 second to go.

    Lovely stuff

For them the chase is over.

I hate to say this, but in this little skit Trump looks vaguely human.

You can't state that from that graph; the median voter could equally just not know.
That is a lot of voters still to find out how much cozying up to Moscow Farage and his Reform comrades have got up to over the years.

Trump gets Peace Prize from FIFA.

I'm shocked, I tell you, shocked.

Why is FIFA issuing a peace prize? Wouldn't a corruption prize have be more meaningful from them?
They claim they will award one every year.

I guess that will be true until November 2028.

You should see who is chair of the committee for the future - a chap from Myanmar who is under multiple sanctions including by the US.

    Truly a football person.

I didn’t realise they played football in Myanmar. Something new every day here etc.
  • Why do these ludicrous draws take so bloody long?

Saint and Greavsie would've had it done and dusted three quarters of an hour ago, and been on their third pint by now at the nearest pub.

We should have kept control of the game - we invented it (despite the BS when they were sucking up to China and made some spurious attempt to say it was invented in China thousands of years ago). We should have stayed as guardians of the global game and not allowed yet another global sports kleptocracy to bastardise it.

Let’s pick up our ball and go home - it’s our game. Not infantino’s piggy bank.

Re the poll - I'm surprised the figures for Ukraine are so low for Starmer and Badenoch.

How could anyone think they are not supporting Ukraine more (excluding a few Don't Knows who haven't heard of Keir or Kemi).

Has the draw started yet ?

I remember many years ago going for a Xmas night out in Brum, having a pizza, and a World Cup being drawn. It was over quite quickly

A significant percentage answer any polling question in terms of do I like/dislike the named person rather than the question asked.
A smaller percentage refuse to say don't know when they don't know so just guess.

    The Guardian's deep-dive into Nige's schooldays continues.

"Bankole is one of 28 school contemporaries of Farage’s at Dulwich college, a public school in south-east London, who claim to have witnessed deeply offensive racist or antisemitic behaviour by Farage."

He would have made a memorable character in a George MacDonald Fraser novel. Right up there with Flashman.

Just wait til the tournament, when the audience will be hoping it will just be 10 minute heat breaks once each half rather than 2 hours off in the middle of Ecuador v Curacao to avoid the lightning.

They should've presented the peace prize jointly to Sheinbaum and Carney, just for the lolz.

Well, never mind. I expect you were just keen to get the job done between having the pizza and the draw starting.

IIRC that was before the 98 World Cup and I was only bothered about the free pizza and beer TBH.

Curacao has been drawn with Vodka, Whisky and German Smoked Beer in a true group of death.
