So a group of ‘men’? No details on ethnicity, so assume non white then? (Pace Liverpool car outrage).
It's gone entirely viral, so if anything the lack of description is making everything worse
They MUST have descriptions! Unless the poor woman is in a coma, she witnesssed her own gang rape. Report what she says. This is an insult to us all
And if you can't report it, then tell us why, and that's fine. It is the endless lying and obfuscating that stirs the pot
Possibly, for some reason I can't fathom, the woman who was gang-raped in a churchyard hasn't provided a detailed description of the attackers yet? Possibly she's a little sad. Maybe a bit ditzy. Hard to think of a good reason.
And being outraged while writing "she witnessed her own gang rape" is a new low, even for you.
Bollocks
If you go back in time, as many have done on social media today, in olden days the police had no trouble in releasing this info very quickly after an alleged crime such as rape. "White, five foot seven, medium build", "black, 5 foot 10, athletic", "weak, 4 foot ten, a centrist Dad on a forum mainly for twats, apart from that one cool dude"
I do not believe this was because they were Awful Racists Back Then. It's because this is basic police work: be honest, warn the public
That still assumes they had a description from the victim of this hideous crime. If the police have one and have withheld it - that's an issue for them to explain. If, by some remote inexplicable chance, the woman who has been gang raped in a churchyard hasn't given one - then that's really quite different.
Maybe they're useless, feckless woke fools. I have no idea. But stirring up hysteria on the back of, at the risk of repeating the real issue, a woman being gang raped by men in a churchyard, seems quite repulsive.
Do we have any Labour members on PB any more? I think Sandy Rentool is one but there used to be several. We used to ger regular updates from all the Parties during their conference. But this year they seem conspicuous by their absence. I'm not even sure Nick Palmer is there.
Yes, I'm a party member. I joined when John Smith was leader. And like several other PB Labourites, I voted Nandy in the leadership ballot.
It would be interesting to know how many current members of each party frequent PB.
I am a member of the Tory Party, I first joined in 1997, a few days after the election as a callow 18 year old.
There is an irrational surd about party membership; in some way it commits you however mildly to the concept of party X being right and parties not-X being in some way wrong. Patently this can't be true or in any sense a complete idea, and any party worthy of having sensible members at all joins with all other decent parties in wanting what Iris Murdoch would call 'The Sovereignty of Good', or catholic social theology calls 'the common good'.
So I am left in the uncomfortable position of thinking that multi party democracy is the best available way, that party membership is essential to its health but there are good reasons for not joining one. So I never have.
More pragmatically, I would not want to join any party that would want me as a member, and the thought of sitting in meetings with other party members waiting to go home and pretending to like it freezes the blood. Like, for those who know the horrific inner life of the Church of England, a never ending deanery synod.
I'm not too happy in membership, for the reasons in my other post, but that doesn't in my experience describe a party meeting accurately. The people who are unhappy tend to stop attending meetings. The meetings themselves are generally amicable and constructive, and a reason to carry on.
I wonder if the reason American golf fans get over-excited, is because Americans actually get very few chances to shout "USA! USA!" in major international team sports events

I’ve said many times that people on unemployment benefits should have them stopped after three months if they refuse to accept an unskilled job. Labour are proposing a weaker version of this, but at least it’s a step in the right direction

I take your guilty apology - thank you!
And people wonder why reform are doing so well in the polls. It's ALL linked. The way the state behaves. Arresting Graham Linehan with 5 armed police for X posts made while in the US. Becoming coy about suspects ethnicity. The Post Office scandal. All the time, chipping away.
I loathe reform and everything they stand for. But if people don't wake up they will wake to a nightmare in 2029.
No mention of a description - what do you want the BBC to say? Have a go at the police - but I'm not sure it's the BBC's fault.
FFS read what I wrote. I explicitly suggested it might be the police.
Then why begin with "Another classic of reporting from the BBC" and link to the BBC website and not look up the statement from the police and link to that, saving us all some trouble?

I'm still a Labour member, and chair of my constituency party. I disagree with a number of current policies, in particular the large cut in foreign aid and the large increase in military spending, but I remain an active member for now. When the new party has had its first conference and clarified its position, and it's clear whether it has a reasonable chance of a significant share of the votes, I'll consider switching - but after 54 years in Labour it's not a decision to take casually.
Would you consider accepting that military aid is normally foreign.

There have been variants of this for my whole adult life, and every couple of years the governing party make this pledge as if it would be something new and different.

Yes. But the nearly two thirds cut in foreign aid is largely non-military.

Apart from when it’s a white suspect, time and again.
That’s just in your head. I looked at the previous 3 appeals from Thames Valley Police and they are all the same and don’t mention ethnicity.
So when the fuck did they stop reporting ethnicity? Always used to be part of the requests for information.
no-ones been arrested yet so there is nothing to report - you really are desperate to be upset about something aren't you?

Anxiety claims for PIP will shoot through the roof.
Judging from my pharmacy students id say 1 in 4 already registered as 'anxious'.
Something mad like 50% of Gen Z get anxious when they have to answer a phone call. It's completely ridiculous how unprepared for real life they are. Time away from social media and working a manual job on a farm in Australia would do them some good. I know it did for me...

Isn't it complicated though? We are running a huge budget deficit and have been for decades. We have enough issues at home. And yes it's great to do good around the world, and in terms of impact it's probably true that a pound overseas goes further than at home but... There is a suspicion that some nations neglect their own when overseas aid is being spent to improve the lives of their citizens (e.g. India launching tickets into space while recieving overseas aid). But then again helping overseas may reduce migration. So it's really complex.

We no longer give foreign aid to India, indeed last year we made a profit on our FCO investments there.

My dad always used to reckon that the snooker was a bit fixed to ensure some excitement. So if player A got too far ahead, they would inexplicably lose a few to keep the interest up. Never thought I'd see it in the Ryder cup.

Loads of MPs don't even seem to go to their own parties conferences these days .
It's bloody expensive, I went to the 2014 Tory conference, and I wasn't able to buy any shoes for a year, Premier Inns were charging £300 a night.
At least I got three signed cardboard cut outs of Dave.
Same for anywhere there is a big event. Back when we actually had an oil industry, the Oil Show every other year in Aberdeen meant you couldn't get a hotel room for under £400. People used to stay in Dundee or Perth and have a taxi to take them to Aberdeen each day. On the alternate years when it was held in Stavanger, we used to fly in from Oslo or Bergen every morning and fly back in the evening as there were usually no rooms available in Stavanger and if there were you were looking at the thick end of £800 per night.
It is still like that in Stavanger as they actually have a thriving oil and gas industry. Not so Aberdeen.
If I could cope with strangers staying in my place, I could make an absolute fortune by putting my flat in central Manchester on Airbnb every time there is a concert or football match in Manchester.
On a similar theme we make regular use of the Just Park app - people renting out their drives around concert and event venues. It is a brilliant idea, simple but really well executed.

I believe the police will release the amount of information they deem necessary to advance the investigation with help from the public without risking prejudicing any future court case. Until they have suspects in custody they will be extremely careful about what they release.
This is good policing. Compare and contrast with some of the cockups that have been made in the past by releasing too much information too early resulting in wrongful arrests or vigilante attacks.
I mean if you think about it golf is a stupid game anyway.
I think it's very much a player-y sport not really a spectator-y sport. Especially live. I really can't see the point.
I was thinking that earlier. Do you grab a seat in the stands at the 14th and then just wait until the players come through? I can see at the US Open or the masters it would be a lot more players but here it's rather limited.
That comes across as day one: got through that, phew.
"Patriot renewal" is such a crap phrase. Imagine being a Labour canvasser. "We believe in patriot renewal". Yer what?
I think it's "patriotic renewal" to be honest, but the point still stands.
It couldn't be just patriotism because that would be wrong. Rule Britannia and retired colonels and jam. And actually acting in the national interest. It has to be a 'new thing'. Like New Labour - these little add-on words subvert the original meaning. Patriotism would be to tell the ICJ to piss off over Chagos. RENEWAL Patriotism is to pay £30bn in order to give it to a completely unrelated country. You're not allowed to be patriotic. You can be RENEWAL patriotic instead.
Thankfully this Government is so thuddingly stupid that the concept will probably be lucky to last the conference.

We 'watched' the Brownlees in the 2012 triathlon. Or rather we saw a few blurry cyclists s couple of times before finding a pub to watch on TV ..
Get in. The Ryder Cup must be the most exciting competition in any sport. A pity it's not on free telly any more. (I haven't seen it on Sky for 20 years but the last time I saw it the coverage was technically very good but utterly packing in charm, as if it was done by people who weren't particularly interested in golf, like, well - remember Peter Alliss? The opposite of that.)

The one F1 GP I went to I had a brilliant view of pole position at Silverstone and then had literally no idea what was happening as I saw some blurs scream past my limited field of vision. I actually had a better time during the practice sessions where I could move around and have different views of the action, as opposed to the fixed seat for race day.

Even cricket is less boring than golf!
I can accept people not finding cricket or golf exciting. Sport ia, after all, a bit silly. But I am baffled by people who find cricket and golf unexciting yet get excited by football.

(I haven't seen it on Sky for 20 years but the last time I saw it the coverage was technically very good but utterly packing in charm, as if it was done by people who weren't particularly interested in golf, like, well - remember Peter Alliss? The opposite of that.)
Joking!
Hahahah up yours Donald
That was before the super over which destroyed me.
"Collective PB Autists have no Theory of Mind" is deeply scornful. You are using autism again as a disparaging insult.
