Do we have any Labour members on PB any more? I think Sandy Rentool is one but there used to be several. We used to ger regular updates from all the Parties during their conference. But this year they seem conspicuous by their absence. I'm not even sure Nick Palmer is there.

Andy Burnham says Keir Starmer has created a "climate of fear" within Labour
“How do we reconnect with the public if an MP loses the whip for trying to protect disability benefits or scrap two-child benefit cap… when debate is closed”
At least long term gilt values might stabilise now Burnham has sh@t the next Prime Minister bed.
Stop digging Andy.
His moment in the Sun, or wherever the dark illustrations of his irrational self-love have featured will have cost the country a bean or two. I hope he has the decency to pay. Lets see gilt yields say +0.02% - oh just a few hundred million.

It's bloody expensive, I went to the 2014 Tory conference, and I wasn't able to buy any shoes for a year, Premier Inns were charging £300 a night.
At least I got three signed cardboard cut outs of Dave.

Same for anywhere there is a big event. Back when we actually had an oil industry, the Oil Show every other year in Aberdeen meant you couldn't get a hotel room for under £400. People used to stay in Dundee or Perth and have a taxi to take them to Aberdeen each day. On the alternate years when it was held in Stavanger, we used to fly in from Oslo or Bergen every morning and fly back in the evening as there were usually no rooms available in Stavanger and if there were you were looking at the thick end of £800 per night.
It is still like that in Stavanger as they actually have a thriving oil and gas industry. Not so Aberdeen.

If I could cope with strangers staying in my place, I could make an absolute fortune by putting my flat in central Manchester on Airbnb every time there is a concert or football match in Manchester.
Rory had another knuckle dragger thrown out....$750 and get yourself thrown out at such an early stage. Sounds more stupid than paying £400 to stay in a Premier Inn to attend Tory Party conference.

Anyone else think if Europe get to 14 points they should concede the rest of the matches to just piss off the obnoxious Yanks?
I think they should just go all Jon Daly and use cans of beer for tees, swigging from whiskey bottles between shots. Show them the level of respect due.

I am a member of the Tory Party, I first joined in 1997, a few days after the election as a callow 18 year old.
There is an irrational surd about party membership; in some way it commits you however mildly to the concept of party X being right and parties not-X being in some way wrong. Patently this can't be true or in any sense a complete idea, and any party worthy of having sensible members at all joins with all other decent parties in wanting what Iris Murdoch would call 'The Sovereignty of Good', or catholic social theology calls 'the common good'.
So I am left in the uncomfortable position of thinking that multi party democracy is the best available way, that party membership is essential to its health but there are good reasons for not joining one. So I never have.
More pragmatically, I would not want to join any party that would want me as a member, and the thought of sitting in meetings with other party members waiting to go home and pretending to like it freezes the blood. Like, for those who know the horrific inner life of the Church of England, a never ending deanery synod.

I like her too. 3 years ago I was at a Labour city event (prawn cocktail offensive kind of thing), and the front benchers were doing the circulating act at the drinks. I made a point of seeking out Lisa because she was interested in devolution, and had by far the most engaging chat of the evening. Like chatting to a new colleague at leaving drinks or a school mum after a few wines at the kids’ camping night. The other good chat was with Lammy. Proper remainer. Some of the others were a little too demure and on-message.
So a group of ‘men’? No details on ethnicity, so assume non white then? (Pace Liverpool car outrage).
The BBC will be reporting what the police said. The police want people to report if they saw anything. They don’t want the public rushing to conclusions. So they don’t report ethnicity. They focus on when/where.
Approx 1 in 3 women in the UK have an abortion at some point.
Outside of the terminally online who have bought into US culture wars hook line and sinker, I'm not sure Reform can rely on its anti-immigration supporters mapping across to support for other US conservative issues.

It would be interesting to see what happens to the polls if/when immigration moves down the list of key issues. Don’t laugh. It has happened before.
Were it not for the boats, I think it would. Even with pre-Boriswave numbers. Say, 250k net per year. Perhaps Starmer's boat scheme will work. Perhaps not.

That is, however, all the Reform UK have. There’s no careful analysis of the specific problems facing the UK. They’re just importing US Republican/MAGA talking points. It’s like the Reform UK councillor storming out of a local council meeting because they didn’t mention Charlie Kirk.

1 in 3 sounds high even if miscarriages are included in the figures. I wonder if it is accurate or if some AI ML has taken a 1 per cent rate and scaled it up over 30 years to reach 30 per cent or 1 in 3.

That’s just in your head. I looked at the previous 3 appeals from Thames Valley Police and they are all the same and don’t mention ethnicity.
Not necessarily blaming the BBC as I say in my first sentence. It’s just so blindingly obvious yet again that ethnicity is being withheld despite what was said after Liverpool.

The difference is that with the Liverpool outrage they had suspect in immediate custody (even though it didn't stop the terminally racist blaming it on Muslims) so could confirm ethnicity pretty easily.

No, in the aftermath of Liverpool it was claimed that the policy had changed, when it clearly hadn’t.

They MUST have descriptions! Unless the poor woman is in a coma, she witnesssed her own gang rape. Report what she says. This is an insult to us all
And if you can't report it, then tell us why, and that's fine. It is the endless lying and obfuscating that stirs the pot
This was an attack in the dead of night in a churchyard. I guess positive ethnic identification might be challenging, and that this might be one for DNA.

Again, with respect, an image of the suspect is totally different.
To be clear, I am not suggesting anything about the ethnicity or ethnicities, I just find it really odd. If it was five white guys say so. If it was five black, or brown or whatever. It seems to me to be deliberately leaving information out for no good reason.

It looks as if the Thames Valley police report and appeal being summarised by the BBC is aimed specifically at one person, the bystander who tried to intervene. There'd be no point telling her what she already knows, and it makes sense to keep things vague so they can quickly exclude fantasists and mischief-makers who would not know the details.

Possibly, for some reason I can't fathom, the woman who was gang-raped in a churchyard hasn't provided a detailed description of the attackers yet? Possibly she's a little sad. Maybe a bit ditzy. Hard to think of a good reason.
And being outraged while writing "she witnessed her own gang rape" is a new low, even for you.

Maybe, but even so I'd wonder if they are averaging repeat patients with never-customers. It might be correct but is it meaningful? My mate and I go to 10 football matches a season – he does 20 and I watch it on telly.
What is known so far of the relationship between Larry Ellison of Oracle and BLair - Oracle gives loads of money to his foundation - Blair lobbies the govt for a scheme which will benefit Oracle and a company in which the Blair family are invested - has a certain whiff of the Cameron / Greensill affair.

In the interests of balance, it's worth noting there is good news ahead for Skyr Toolmakersson
Illegal arrivals are down by around 50% to the EU, YOY. Whatever Frontex are doing - forcing slavers to take the migrants in Libya, sinking boats off Greece - is working. This will soon, surely, feed through to the boat crisis in the UK, and the pressure will lessen

Assuming these scumbags, whoever they are, are brought to trial, we will know their identity soon enough.
In the meantime, getting the case investigated as quickly and calmly as possible has to be a higher priority than satisfying purient curiosity, especially shit-stirring purient curiosity.
So a group of ‘men’? No details on ethnicity, so assume non white then? (Pace Liverpool car outrage).
It's gone entirely viral, so if anything the lack of description is making everything worse
They MUST have descriptions! Unless the poor woman is in a coma, she witnesssed her own gang rape. Report what she says. This is an insult to us all
And if you can't report it, then tell us why, and that's fine. It is the endless lying and obfuscating that stirs the pot
Bollocks
If you go back in time, as many have done on social media today, in olden days the police had no trouble in releasing this info very quickly after an alleged crime such as rape. "White, five foot seven, medium build", "black, 5 foot 10, athletic", "weak, 4 foot ten, a centrist Dad on a forum mainly for twats, apart from that one cool dude"
I do not believe this was because they were Awful Racists Back Then. It's because this is basic police work: be honest, warn the public
So a group of ‘men’? No details on ethnicity, so assume non white then? (Pace Liverpool car outrage).
Are you really that dense?
The difference is that with the Liverpool outrage they had suspect in immediate custody (even though it didn't stop the terminally racist blaming it on Muslims) so could confirm ethnicity pretty easily.
Then just say that
"At the moment we have no idea of the ethnicity of the alleged criminals, or any other reliable descriptions"
How hard is that? Just say it. Stop with the wanky non-speak

My fucking God. Don't you think you might JUST feel differently if you were a young woman in Banbury? Like, you might want to know who is out there doing gang rapes??
What is known so far of the relationship between Larry Ellison of Oracle and BLair - Oracle gives loads of money to his foundation - Blair lobbies the govt for a scheme which will benefit Oracle and a company in which the Blair family are invested - has a certain whiff of the Cameron / Greensill affair.
We seem to have ended up combining the worst aspects of overreaching state power and crony capitalism with the interests of the individual citizen utterly disregarded, other than as a product to be sold for the benefit of a rich few.
Looks can be misleading and if anything, the relationship is probably the other way round. Blair has been pushing ID cards for decades.
Do we have any Labour members on PB any more? I think Sandy Rentool is one but there used to be several. We used to ger regular updates from all the Parties during their conference. But this year they seem conspicuous by their absence. I'm not even sure Nick Palmer is there.
Yes, I'm a party member. I joined when John Smith was leader. And like several other PB Labourites, I voted Nandy in the leadership ballot.
It would be interesting to know how many current members of each party frequent PB.
I'm still a Labour member, and chair of my constituency party. I disagree with a number of current policies, in particular the large cut in foreign aid and the large increase in military spending, but I remain an active member for now. When the new party has had its first conference and clarified its position, and it's clear whether it has a reasonable chance of a significant share of the votes, I'll consider switching - but after 54 years in Labour it's not a decision to take casually.

That still assumes they had a description from the victim of this hideous crime. If the police have one and have withheld it - that's an issue for them to explain. If, by some remote inexplicable chance, the woman who has been gang raped in a churchyard hasn't given one - then that's really quite different.
Maybe they're useless, feckless woke fools. I have no idea. But stirring up hysteria on the back of, at the risk of repeating the real issue, a woman being gang raped by men in a churchyard, seems quite repulsive.

At least I got three signed cardboard cut outs of Dave.

Overheard at Labour conference:

It is still like that in Stavanger as they actually have a thriving oil and gas industry. Not so Aberdeen.

I thought fat shaming was a no no in progressive circles.
The closet has clothes in it.
Such as morning suit when I have to chair a board meeting.

Neptune Energy, a major oil and gas company, has just confirmed resources of 43 million tons of lithum carbonate (LCE) in the Altmark region in Germany. With huge potential for commercial extraction, it could become one of the key production nodes for battery technology in Europe.

Obviously didn't get the memo about no more than 84 per boat.
Does seem like a change of tactics, they go weekends and lots of people all at once.
The couple of tour pros I grew up regularly practiced with headphones on (and this was years ago when they were bulky).
More importantly, is Torsten Bell left or right-handed? The mic suggests one; his watch the other.

Is it blindingly obvious that ethnicity has been withheld in this case? Stop being paranoid.

To be clear, I am not suggesting anything about the ethnicity or ethnicities, I just find it really odd. If it was five white guys say so. If it was five black, or brown or whatever. It seems to me to be deliberately leaving information out for no good reason.

Illegal arrivals are down by around 50% to the EU, YOY. Whatever Frontex are doing - forcing slavers to take the migrants in Libya, sinking boats off Greece - is working. This will soon, surely, feed through to the boat crisis in the UK, and the pressure will lessen

No mention of a description - what do you want the BBC to say? Have a go at the police - but I'm not sure it's the BBC's fault.
