Almost like Vance and co are slowly prepping the means to remove Trump once he's served his purpose and they Project 2025 need their fall guy.
For Trump to be removed, there are two options:
1) Invoke the 25th Amendment. This requires Vance to persuade half the cabinet that Trump is off his head (or at least, get them to admit that Trump is off his head) and then either instantly lock him up without access to email or any other sort of communication for a month or persuade two thirds of the House and the Senate to concur. I'll file that under 'will happen the day Cummings shows some intellectual humility.'
2) Death.
As (2) hasn't happened yet and hasn't even come close apart from Mr Crooks, we must assume there is no Deep State that will arrange matters, and the Indira Gandhi option seems improbable.
So we're stuck with this nonsense for four years.
Elon just tweeted the England flag
It’s about midnight-3am in the USA…
And he has done a very thorough job of ingratiating himself with MAGA voters (which is as good an explanation I can come up with for why a clearly not stupid guy can spout so much obvious nonsense).
The Marxist school of thought that leadership is ultimately irrelevant and history will always find a way because of the systems and processes vs the Whig, especially American Whig, tradition that the Great Men always decide the course of events.
Well, Trump is certainly demonstrating that the latter is true, if only rather negatively. It will be interesting to see whether it corrects when he is finally carried out of the White House in a pine box bedecked with concrete umbrellas and very small mushrooms in place of the traditional roses.
Sir David Lees, Chairman of the Court, told us that the significance of these arrangements was that "they cannot be removed simply because the government of the day dislikes what they are doing or saying—not at least until their terms expire".

They are going to solve the migrant crisis with one simple easy policy.
It is so simple that it beggars belief that no politician or civil servant had thought of it previously.
Good morning, everyone.

I suppose the Lords would block it, unless it was part of the finance bill and the Lords cannot delay/amend those.
*OK, I'll admit that's a bit of a stretch, but I was trying to keep the Yes Prime Minister analogy going.
Another take on struggles with finances:

I've mentioned Woking and Spelthorne on here before and it's likely their debt will be written off by the Government as part of Local Authority Reorganisation next year. You'll also note three London Boroughs on the naughty list including Newham.
The problem Councils have to use the student fridge analogy is the cream, milk and yoghurt are long gone and what's left is that stuff at the back which has been there for months if not years and no one really knows what it is - that usually means landlocked pieces of gorse infested highway verge or former school playing fields which can't be accessed and can't therefore be easily converted to other use.
There's also the office space which no one uses but presumably have to be kept in case a Reform Government gets in and legislates to compel all public sector staff to be in the office five days a week.
"You called Kamala Harris a communist. But the Biden-Harris administration never called for nationalizing a private company like you're doing to Intel...Is this the new way of industrial policy?"
Trump: "Ya. Sure it is. I wanna try to get as much as I can."

No wonder you're happy being run by a country who executes teenagers and murders dissents.

Under Thatcher, the Tory Wets thrived, and were regularly represented in the cabinet.
Blair kicked the hard left into a corner, but didn’t extinguish them.
Javier Milei, in Argentina, is often categorised with Trump. But aside from the non-insane* economic policies, he regularly fights with his VP. Yet no talk of removing said VP. Or getting rid of her supporters within his party.
*You can argue whether they are good or bad. But, unlike those of Trump, they form a coherent position.

Crackdown on ‘honour’ crime to be launched by government
...
In 2021, pregnant Fawziyah Javed, 31, died when she was pushed from Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh by her husband after she decided to leave the marriage.
New statutory guidance and a legal definition of honour-based abuse will be brought in to help combat the crime, the government has said.
The Home Office will pilot a study looking at how widespread this crime is, a community awareness campaign will be launched and teachers, police officers, social workers and healthcare professionals will receive more training under the new policies.

Sorry, I've done the Jess & Yvette show an injustice. Their's is a three-fold plan – a pilot study; a glossy poster; and more work for under-employed social workers and teachers so we can blame them next time.
There’s been a concerted attempt by the Dads to squash the Flags Thing these last days. “It’s all gammons”. “It’s just a few racists”. “It’s shameful”. “It’s pure vandalism”. “It’s not happening anyway”
Might be successful. Might not
Elon’s intervention will fire up the Flaggers. They have the world’s richest dude, and X, on their side. He’s also referencing that truly strange, sad video of the girl with the blades in Dundee
He’s supposed to be the sane one.
It's like an old fashioned 'working to rule' which was quite popular years ago. It was explained to me by a union negotiator as 'We're not working to rule. We're just withdrawing our enthusiasm"
Even as you read it you can hear five sub-editors in an office collapsed with helpless laughter
10/10
A bad leader treats disagreement as disloyalty.
Trump is getting quite close to the consequences of his stupidity. US employment numbers already flashing red for a recession, now the absolute fuckwittery of the racist attack on the Fed (for, dear reader, that is what it is). Seems like US Inflation is going to be well into double figures within six months if this clown keeps going. That adds up to a nasty dose of stagflation, and with so many Us workers living pay check to pay check, there is going to be an awful lot of misery out there.
Its a crisis in the US, certainly, could it be the mirror of the Soviet crisis 40 years ago?
In the meantime the US has a Truss they can't get rid of.
But that didn’t happen in Ulster. The colours were raised - and stayed
ReFUK know there isn't a workable plan but they also know that their target voter hopes there is. So tell them there is a plan and worry about it later.
As soon as "we're using RAF Wethersfield" gets announced the place gets swamped by "patriots" shouting abuse at the fence.
Journalists’ own fault anyway for hanging about hospitals, as any fule kno they’re prime targets for the IDF.
There needs to be some balance between democratic control and “independence”*
We have seen, in the case of the Post Office an organisation that, while 100% owned and controlled by government, went off on its own. Management regarded lying to politicians as a right. Ministers were pressured “not to interfere”. This created a monster - an organisation with the power of government and no checks or balances on their behaviour.
A counterpoint is NICE - where a tight remit, transparency on decisions and control by domain experts has led to, what most would agree, a de-politicised and successful process for the use of treatments in the NHS.
Another example - Just this year, the Sentencing Council had to be reminded that they serve at the pleasure of Parliament. When they tried to issue guidelines that were at odds with government policy, they had to be told (so I understand) that they risked being overruled via the Commons, before they gave in.
*In 1918, The Independent Airforce was set up to strategically bomb Germany. The independent bit was referring to its resources being set aside for that mission. Lord Trenchard famously asked - “Independent of whom? God?”
Stir shamelessly, as my old nemesis used to say. Opposition politics 101.
The problem is Newcastle need 1 new striker and 2 if Isak goes and currently there are none available unless Liverpool are willing to pay £200m+ given the cost of any vague options.

In any event you should be chuffed with the result because we outplayed you with 10 men and no striker. Bodes well for the rest of the season.
A few orders of magnitude to go, if the enthusiasm exists. Which I am slightly sceptical about.
I'm sure "somewhere" can be found - using disused military bases has been done before in Kent for example.
It's obviously easier to manage asylum seekers if they are all together rather than widely dispersed in the community (and allays local fears on all levels). Yet, such a large camp becomes a focal point for protest and intimidation though I suspect guarding a large camp is easier than trying to manage a network of HMOs, any one of which could be targeted by local "patriots" who would welcome the new arrivals with a nice fire.
The key is processing cases quickly and deporting those whose applications were unsuccessful equally quickly. Those whose applications are approved can of course leave and join the community. Given winter is coming and it's probable numbers crossing the Channel illegally will fall (those who arrive by other means and seek asylum are a different matter), there's an opportunity to get the backlog cleared and the numbers right down before next spring pending a more sustainable long term solution.
Good morning, everybody.
A loser 😂
I look forward to their contortions over this.

It might well be an overly bureaucratic means to an end, but the principle is correct, I think.
It’s an eerie, melancholy and disturbing video. She’s been arrested, it seems. But there are wildly conflicting accounts of the context
Broadly I fully support the police arresting people who have offensive weapons.
Yes, but if they just try to apply the law or mention that murdering people is already illegal that won't be Doing Something and getting a headline in a newspaper. It's very important we bloat the legal code a little more so the Government can get six seconds of potentially positive media coverage.
There’s loads of this under Elon’s “England flag” tweet
