    Iran can't be allowed to get nuclear weapons.

    You don’t see any potential downsides to an escalating conflict between Israel and Iran that might equal the risks of Iran having a couple of bombs?

    You’re not willing to consider the Iranian perspective (whether or not you agree with it) and why it may want the bomb, and think about ways the West could help it decide not to purse that route via peaceful negotiation?

    Military action of all kinds is messy and painful, and civilians die. You try the other stuff first.

    That "other stuff" has been tried. The IAEA confirmed Iran is not meeting its obligations. It's had decades to do so.

    At what point is enough enough for you?

    If not now, then when?

    I am fascinated to know how Mossad / Israeli special forces get into Central Iran. It isn't like there are friendly countries around Iran that Israel could launch such an incursion from and they can hardly fly in.

    If they were surveying political drinks, they should have polled window-cleaning fluid, boot polish or toothpaste.

    That is what people were forced to drink in the last days of the Soviet Union as even vodka was in short supply, and so have always struck me as the ultimate socialist tipples for the masses, though the elite of course continued to quaff champagne.

    A few more years of Reevesonomics and we'll probably be that desperate.

    We had Soviet champagne at my sister's wedding (long story). It was... OK.

    The Tory reform to the duty regime has been a disaster. Loads of beers now 3.4%. May as well drink tap water.

    There are only a few acceptable alcoholic drinks:

    - Bitter
    - Lager (but only on sunny summer days)
    - Wine
    - Whisky (single malts)
    - Brandy

    And, of course, not all of every category is acceptable. Blue Nun might be "wine", but it is no way an acceptable beverage.

    Cocktails are almost always the sign of some kind of mental breakdown - with very few exceptions. An Aperol Spritz, if imbibed on a warm summer evening, ideally in the garden of a grand European hotel, might be acceptable. And I have been told that there occasions when a Negroni might permissable: if sat next to @Leon for example, and seeking oblivion in as short a time as possible.

    It also looks like the faintest slither of an olivey looking twig from Lowe to Yusuf. Given the latter tried to have the former arrested, it is notable.

    Presumably if Iran were to exit the Nuclear Non-Proliferation treaty - joining India, Pakistan, North Korea, and Israel - that would satisfy your concens?

    Leaving aside the twisted ironies of populist parties being particularly interested in the concept of truth, I do think this is yet another example of the Labour Party losing the public due to defaulting to obfuscation and lack of honesty.
    It isn't even a clever lawyerly type obfuscation. It is easy to demonstrate it is untrue and also the public already well aware of this, in fact most of the public don't believe there are even many genuine asylum seekers among them.

    It isn't like making some claim about something the public won't really understand, will find hard to work out and could be measured if different ways which gives you plenty of wiggle room. That been said we do know that Labour have had a lot of trouble being able to define what exactly a woman is.

    Yet more evidence of how shit our politicians are, they can't even do the lying bending the truth properly.

    I knocked drinking on the head 4 years ago and I'm pretty happy with the non alcoholic beers that are around. I like Mash Gang, Beavertown, Charnwood Brewey...in fact loads of the less well known brands do good stuff. Forget the big brands, although Guiness, Corona and Peroni offer a decent experience.
    There's a couple of wines that are OKish, Wolf Blass Shiraz and Sauvignon plus Tesco Malbec put up a decent fight.
    Spirits though, are universally shite. About the best I've found ( and I've tried a lot!) is Pathfinder Hemp and Root. Gives off a bit of a jagermeister vibe.
    Anyone with any spirit suggestions, please pipe up.
    I voted Green the past couple of times. Probably should drink a craft IPA.

    Back in the 70s, in Mediterranean Europe, the tonic water still had medicinal levels of quinine in it. Probably where my taste for really bitter stuff comes from.

    Ooh, not seen Georgian fizz. Will look it up. Had Georgian Red and it’s lovely. Also had a Georgian spirit which was rather good too.
