Just 3 days out there is plenty of free money to be snaffled on Betfair Exchange if you are prepared to stick enough on to make it worth the trouble. In particular, 1.03 up to 1.08 available on various ultra certain red and blue states such as Kansas and California.
I've done tons of this.
I still think it is four days, yet you and the previous thread said three. Is this one of those regional variations like whether "Tuesday week" is Tuesday next week, or a week from next Tuesday?
I suppose 4 days is more accurate. I'm not counting today or Tuesday. I'm applying the "shopping days to Christmas" convention.
Must admit I have absolutely zero idea why that cartoon is anti-semitic. Presume its something to do with the way Starmer is drawn? But all I see is him looking a touch effeminate not at all Jewish. What am I missing? Is it a variant on something famous?
I think it's because it is deemed to be all about Salome dancing for King Herod. But "to offer uyp a head on a plate" is general expression anyway. And how many people know that particular Biblical story? As opposed to Wilde/Beardsley?
Had to google Wilde/Beardsley as well, now if we were talking about Waddle/Beardsley I'd know what is going on.

Is it an implication that Starmer has offered Jeremy's head on a plate to placate international Jewry?
King Herod was certainly National Jewry. It's possible Steve Bell didn't know that, or recognise that Bible stories quite often contain Jewish people, but it's careless, to say the least.

Oh, now I'm feeling all Christmassy. I might dust off my Die Hard DVD this evening.
I can understand someone thinking it's inappropriate after yesterday's outrage in France but 'anti semitic' 'racist'....take a pill Mr Shindler you need one.
Not a good idea to cry wolf too often or people might start thinking they have an agenda. The real irony is that after the French teacher was knifed to death for demonstrating with a cartoon how a liberal democracy should behave you get the Daily Mail trying to get a cartoonist arrested for an offensive cartoon.

Heads on dishes - John the Baptist etc... ??
Genuine question, and not meant to offend anyone. But if something does not even raise the slightest connection to Judaism in the minds of most of the population, but only with those who have specialist knowledge in the field, is it anti-semitic? I guess the knowledge and the intention of the author are important in this respect.
I, for the life of me, would not have made a connection between that cartoon and anti-semitism, save perhaps for the reason Corbyn's head is on the plate. Now the connection with islamic extremists was beyond obvious.
I've always found Steve Bell to be a weird cartoonist. You'd think The Guardian would be a bit more upmarket. Nowhere near the brilliance of Matt.
Ok, because of the kerfuffle I ran the cartoon past a professional cartoonist, who incidentally hadn't seen it before and wasn't aware of the AS concerns.
We concluded it's a good cartoon cartoon idea, but the execution is poor (no pun intended). The main trouble is that Starmer is unrecognisable. He looks more like Cameron! What's more, he's been made to look effete. The reason for this is unclear, and doesn't seem to serve any comedic or political purpose. (Corbyn is also a poor likeness but that matters less.)
This is a shame because the idea of Starmer decapitating metaphorically his adversary is a strong one, especially as real beheadings are very much in the news.
Is it anti-semitic? Not in a million years. There's no Jewish trope here, and no caricature that could be interpreted as such.
That's about it for now. Gotta go eat. (I do hope this one dies the death.)
@Carnyx These halfwitted bitter and twisted losers just want to whinge about Scotland and punt their odious "it is anti English" mantra. Normally they would be laughing at thick poor Scots going to Blackpool and calling it a dump but it now suits them to champion it. Despicable odious creature and pretends to be Scottish as well.
