Boris talked about "winning the forthcoming election" in the ITV debate. Has he made a gaffe about his intentions as PM? It sounds like an election in the near future rather than 2022! Surprised nobody pulled him up on that, certainly the lady chairing the debate should have asked for clarification on what Boris meant by "forthcoming".
Nothing much to fear from either of these; the dangerous candidates were eliminated some time ago. And neither convinced as being up to the Herculanean task of Delivering Brexit either.
Boris wants to throw the Ambassador under the bus.
What a tosser.
Who, apart from the slavering nutjobs in the Tory Party, are actually going to vote for this clown?
the Ambassador should not have made unnecessary insulting remarks about the President of the United States, regardless of his own personal views, he has not acted in a professional manner, and has demeaned his office, he should resign forthwith, and fall on his sword. He has mired the UK US relationship
It will be incredible to witness when Boris starts on about fake news and journalists who are traitors, seeing as, unlike Trump, he was one and indeed is still paid as one.

when parliament gets in the way of the people' it needs shutting down, just like Cromwell did when he said to parliament : “You have been sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!.”

What's more an ambassador is, quite literally, tasked with giving his personal, candid opinion of goings-on in the country to which he is assigned. How will any of them feel confident in discharging their duties from now on?

The ambassador should be free to say what he wants. The issue is that some arsehole has leaked a diplomatic cable which is a treasonable offence.
The issue with Darroch isn't that he said it, that's a fair game. The issue is that he's unloved in Washington, and that's because he isn't able to move past the personal issues he clearly has with Trump. He isn't able to separate business from personality, Trump is president, whether or not Darroch wants him to be. His attitude has left this nation out in the cold, he was the wrong person for the job.
Trying (but possibly failing) to be objective, I’d say that Johnson just edged the first half of the programme but was struggling badly at times in the second. Not that Hunt shone particularly. Won’t make any difference though of course, but I’ll stick my neck out and predict that the result will be closer to 60-40 than the rout the polls are showing.

Or if he'd said he didn't like the guy for some personal reason. In fact his assessment was measured and impersonal, and in fact reflected fairly widely and publicly expressed views of many others who were also well qualified to judge.
I thought Mitt Romney was a good candidate. His problem was religion and the fact he came up against a popular incumbant POTUS. I would be happy for a Romney like candidate given the dog shit that Boris personifies! By the way did you ever see the newspaper cartoon depicting Boris as a Labrador shitting over a garden? It was funny and shows how Boris will be lampooned as a figure of fun.
So. Do we want an utterly mendacious charlatan, who promises to be a disastrously ill-informed blusterer? Or someone merely not barely adequate? Over to you Tory members.

Boris says gay marriage in NI up to people of NI unlike Hunt
Which of them do you agree with?
Boris, it is up to NI voters to elect a party which backs gay marriage
Couldn't disagree more. The right to marriage is a fundamental human right and the right to be treated equally more so.
If NI wants to be part of the UK it should offer all citizens of the UK their fundamental human rights. If they don't, they can f##k off and leave this union.

Off topic, looking again at the Electoral Calculus prediction from the YouGov poll earlier, I note that the Brexit party is predicted to pick up 28 out of the 40 Welsh seats.

Well given a farage Swinson/Davey Johnson corbyn debate then I think it will be farage and Swinson/Davey who come out on top. But as we know Johnson will attempt desperately to control the debate to corbyn and himself despite by then they are both in the teens in voting intention polls. It is sad but I suppose they are both passed their sell by date

Good point which is probably why a significant portion of the electorate would vote for Johnson. There’s a general feeling of “ha ha that Boris, what a joker” among many, which still stems from his HIGNFY years.

Maybe we will find out in the "forthcoming election". It sounds immediate rather than 2022. He might have gaffed by accident and given away his plan for a GE! I dont think he will win or do as well as the Tories achieved in 2017 under May. I will be voting LD if their is a snap GE as I cannot vote for Boris...

You said he was "unloved in Washington."
None of those people are in the Trump inner circle. Face it, Darroch couldn't get past his dislike for Trump and let if affect his job. That's why he's a poor ambassador, not because he told the truth about him in a diplomatic cable.

Fundamental rights shouldn't be devolved. But even if it is, since they've elected to be ruled by Westminster it is only appropriate that Westminster rules accordingly. And it is to the shame of Westminster every day that passes where they don't grant our citizens equal rights. This should trump party or other matters.

The British ambassador and his mansion on Mass Ave., next to the VP's residence, are centerpieces of the D.C. political-media axis.

And not Trump.
You said he was "unloved in Washington."
None of those people are in the Trump inner circle. Face it, Darroch couldn't get past his dislike for Trump and let if affect his job. That's why he's a poor ambassador, not because he told the truth about him in a diplomatic cable.
I'm not sure who his inner circle is but I thought Kellyanne Conway at least was.
Boris wants to throw the Ambassador under the bus.
What a tosser.
Who, apart from the slavering nutjobs in the Tory Party, are actually going to vote for this clown?
the Ambassa his office, he should resign forthwith, and fall on his sword. He has mired the UK US relationship

It was a decent debate but we needed another hour. Hunt landed some decent blows and I think Johnson would collapse with sustained scrutiny.
The telling moment was obviously the question about Darroch.
Boris confirmed he was happy to throw him under the bus. He tried to make a feeble accusation that Hunt was no better than he because Hunt might not extend Darroch beyond retirement but it collapsed under the weight of its own ridiculousness.
Off topic, looking again at the Electoral Calculus prediction from the YouGov poll earlier, I note that the Brexit party is predicted to pick up 28 out of the 40 Welsh seats.
I will be amazed if they win any seats in Wales in a GE.
when parliament gets in the way of the people' it needs shutting down, just like Cromwell did when he said to parliament : “You have been sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!.”
Did demcracy end in 1948 when Atlee prorogued Parliament to get the major constitutional change in the 1949 Parliament Act across the line? No, of course not, don't be silly, Mr Dunt and Mr Grieve.
And why should a PM candidate rule out the use of prerogative powers? Not much point being PM if all you're going to use the position for is custody of Larry the cat, and I'm not even sure that he could, constitutionally, stymie the crown's powers.
And while I'm setting the world to rights, whoever leaked the Darroch diptels should have their skin pulled off. Not full-on Judgment of Cambyses, just like when you get a bit peeling by your fingernail and you pull it and it gets worse and you try again and make it even worse and you think "this is how I will die". Darroch ought to offer his resignation on the basis he's lost the confidence of his host nation and he can't guarantee confidentiality either, and the PM ought to refuse to accept it to show the White House Trump doesn't call the shots.

If we had had a series of these and Leaver Gove had got through as the opponent I think this contest might have been close.
That implementation period?

Should the speaker be sacked too?
He must not resign at the behest of another Countrys demands.

Both awful - gutted that Gove didn't make the last two.
Or someone merely not barely adequate?
Over to you Tory members.
Figures of fun sometimes win eg Berlusconi
If NI wants to be part of the UK it should offer all citizens of the UK their fundamental human rights. If they don't, they can f##k off and leave this union.

General public always go on big picture / general impression.
Boris will win but I have serious reservations about him. Refusing to back the ambassador was disloyal.
The big winner tonight was Julie Etchingham who actually moderated rather than ramble on and make it all about her like Maitliss did.
Hunt was against No Deal before he was for it before he was against it again
What he actually says (or doesn’t say) is scary IMHO but there’s no doubting he does reach the voters others can’t.
Hunt didn't really offer an alternative unless you believe in the power of his masterful negotiating skills.
WTAF did he wear then? A kilt?
