There are no good options from now on, no cost-free ones, anyway. There never were. If this point had been made 2½ years ago – and indeed at any point thereafter – we might not be where we are now. So now what?
I can see a 2nd ref happening between Deal and Remain.
The Leave camp would split/boycott on the former, leading to an easy victory for Remain on the latter on a low turnout.
If May has called a sudden consultative referendum on her Deal in December with the public, do you take this yes or no, campaigning on the future political relationship, *before* Parliament voted on it, it might have been different.
A further popular mandate would have assured Parliament was more supportive.
