It’s the Conservative Brand that is the biggest problem for the Conservative Party right now.
It all goes back to Boris. This is what my dad was saying, and he’s been saying it for a decade not just right now. Boris was 100% in politics for himself - not the party, not good government. He was just a cad. He switched from Pro EU to campaign for Brexit simply because seeing opportunity to become PM by destroying Cameron. Throwing out the party the soft Brexiteers and strong centrist politicians who had been passionate Tories their whole lives and only rebelled a whip once - how the hell was he allowed to get away with it? 😖 And his government did not do economics. It did bluster about about to become so much flipping being better off, better wages than ever. His 35 minute “Jon Bon Govi” Conference address on eve of credit crunch didn’t even mention difficulties to come and plans for it everyone, including industry and business were listening for. Boris Stark Hard Brexit ripped up 100 years building the most trusted Fiscal Conservative Party in the world - the thing elections are won on. Boris delivered the Boriswave, the gift reform are suckling on putting them on 30% and Tories less than 20%.
The damage to to the Conservative Brand was the madness of succumbing to King Boris. And it’s hard to see how quickly it gets better for the Conservative Party now.
It’s the Conservative Brand that is the biggest problem for the Conservative Party right now. The solution has to be move back to the centre, and stop merely photocopying Farage’s policies like using ICE to deport seven hundred thousand people living working and in school here, stop being a drill baby drill party of climate change deniers, don’t glibly leave ECHR before pushing for reform. Etc.

Can 2 do a circle jerk? More likely a reach around. The irony is that you and Taz are the ones currently having a circle jerkWell, yes. It makes them feel comfy, it is quite sadI do get the Impression the majority here would rather have a group where everyone shares the same core set of views and just spend all day broadly agreeing with each other.Don’t worry I’ll be banned again soon enough. WhatevsJesus fucking Christ this forum is now near-uselessSo long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, good bye
Don't like the door hit you on the way out.
We used to compare PB to a raucous pub, which it was, at its best. It has become more of a low-to-middling golf club crossed with pre-trans Mumsnet

I don’t know. I just used to like her cookery shows.I was just trying to cheer the crestfallen Tories. Back in the day wasn't she on the New Labour celebrity circuit?Sadly it’s even worse. In news that will matter far more to the public than the rancid Braverman, magic MILF Nigella Lawson has taken over from Danny Krueger’s Mom on Bake Off.A Tory gain from Reform in the Bakeoff Constituency?

It’s filmed in Welford Park in Newbury which is Lib Dem territory.
No one could lick a spoon like her.

That Tory statement on Braverman is quite breath-takingly stupid. She has “mental health issues”, and “we’re going to joke about them”Nice we can agree on something before you flounce again.
WTFFF?
How long before they retract it and apologise. I give it six hours

Agreed, this type of Trumpian character assassination has no place in the politics of our polite, understated and pleasant land. All of us here looked on aghast when Trump made mock of Joe Biden's mental state with his silly framed poster in the White House. Let all of us - left or right, young or old - resist such juvenile nastiness and stand united beneath decency's flag!
Re: The big winners from the weekend’s Labour contretemps – politicalbetting.com
Yeah, a bit classless from the Tories' twitter team, that.Conservative statement on BravermanWhat an appalling statement. Prepubescent debating club boys running CCHQ. No wonder everyone is leaving.

They could have simply said nothing at all. No-one forces you to tweet.

Kemi promoted Morton to be her Shadow Development Minister, so noWendy Morton MP was Chief Whip under Truss, but persona non grata when Sunak took over. Maybe she's one for defection watch? For those who have a better knowledge of Tory MPs, who are the most likely to be the next to jump ship? What about Chris Philp?
Current shadow Home Secretary, he was Chief Secretary to the Treasury in the Truss Ministry for the disastrous Kwarteng budget.
