Three cheers for the Australian Labor government which has banned social media for the under-16s. The best thing that's happened for a long time imo.It will give Australian youth more time to practise cricket. Have you thought this through?

If you realise it's feudalism, it makes a kind of sense. Putin thinks ultimate sovereignty for Ukraine vests in Russia and him personally because of a bunch of Swedes in Kyiv in the 8thC or whenever. He's OK with someone running the place with due allegiance shown, but it's his. No more negotiatable than his name is Putin.I can't really get my head around the Russian attitude. They already have literally the largest country in the world. And they can't run that with any degree of competence! Why don't they just stick to what they have, maybe try to run it a bit better so its population isn't in terminal decline, the few remaining people perpetually drunk and depressed. Once they manage that maybe we can talk about handing over chunks of other people's countries for them to fuck up.What about that chunk of Iran they effectively controlled in the early '40s?Putin says it’s impossible from a legal standpoint to sign any agreement with Ukraine because it doesn’t have a legitimate government. There we go again.Look, I'm not taking that little squirt Putin seriously unless he demands all of:

GOVERNMENT CLIMBDOWN:
Unfair Dismissal rights will only come in after 6 months employment, not on Day 1 as planned.
Change due to Lords blocking the legislation; this is the agreed compromise.

It's a mystery to me why anyone with that sort of wealth would choose to spend their life living in Dubai. Each to his own I supposeNet migration falls to 204,000.All those millionaires heading to Dubai. Great news for my business, not so great for Rachel.
That’s a huge drop.

Can I just say that the amount of time that poor lawyers have to spend hanging around the courts to no purpose waiting for Juries is a disgrace.

The justice system is massively underfunded, thanks to spending cuts over the last decade and a half.@Cyclefree had it right yesterday.Uncharacteristically simplistic for you? What has one thing to do with the other?
Just scrap the spend on digital ID and put it into the Justice Dept.
Rather than completely changing the basis of how we administer criminal justice (with minimal public debate, and significant implications for individual liberty) in order to cut costs, there is a very strong case for simply funding it better to do its job.
The money has to come from somewhere, and the digital ID scheme (also controversial, and quite likely useless) seems as good a place as any.

Obviously we are not getting rid of the budget, nor should we.
However the incessant briefing for months in advance of this one, was incredibly damaging to UK PLC. As far as I can tell it was with the connivance of Reeves and Treasury for political reasons.
A shameful way to operate.

Happy Thanksgiving, y’all. Please, we’re Brits, if we’re going to celebrate massacring Indians then the 13th of April is when the UK Thanksgiving should be.
I shall be eating an elk schnitzel at the Grand Canyon.
