There have been 66 homicides in London this year so far. For a city of almost 10 million that's an incredibly low number.Another area where the UK is falling behind the US.

"He cut them up into small pieces and they were ready in 15 minutes".A friend of mine was a cameraman on the One Show. He's since moved upwards to Channel 5 documentaries on serial killers and air fryers.I managed to endure 5 minutes of it once whilst visiting someone’s house. There are people who actually watch it - I am at a loss to what part of their souls it fulfils.it is low IQ dreckI've spent the last 10 years avoiding The One Show as much as possible.Another night of much of Newsnight approaching the atmosphere of a BBC One magazine show.Someone appears to have looked at the One Show and Radio 5 and thought “that’s lovely” and decided that every bit of news and discussion needs to match. Wankers.
The issues of distinctiveness at the BBC at the momenf are quite significant

Someone may be triggered.
Congratulations to new Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado for her courageous struggle to bring democracy to Venezuela. It should inspire those engaged in similar struggles around the world - and remind those of us lucky enough to live in America that we have a solemn responsibility to constantly preserve and defend our own hard-won democratic traditions.

Sometimes away from politics nice things happen
Our 16 year old grandson, who has just started his 3 year catering course, arrived today with sticky toffee pudding and sauce he had made, and it was quite the best we have tasted anywhere
Who says our FE colleges are not worth it, though it does have an excellent reputation and many years ago my cousin qualified there and eventually became a director of Trust House Forte

I think Obama got his for simply not being Dubya.SAD!All very humorous and all that but Obama got his for simply being black, whereas when Trumpy gets his next year, he will genuinely have achieved something.
Its not Obama's fault, and I have a lot of time for him. I imagine him running again is the main reason Trump would not abolish the two term limit. But he really didn't deserve the Nobel for simply getting elected.

Polanski won’t drink Earl Grey.No it is theft and basically communism and many want to rent privately and not from the stateI like "abolish landlords". It's a solution to the problem of too many wealthy rentiers. It's not the solution I would have picked, but it recognises the problem and implements a solution. It's much better than the learned helplessness of Labour,The Greens have no full answers as yet.The problem with the Greens is that they are antediluvian, and their policy proposals are crap.
On the other hand, they're serving a usual function. No one else is making some of the kind of perfectly valid case that Polanski was making on QT, that billionaires are helping place all the blame on minorities from structural social and economic issues since Thatcherism.
Neither Starmer, or particularly the Lib Dens, are drawing attention to this reality, and YourParty seems not be functioning yet.
The result is that the public sense of who to hold accountable is gradually being drawn further and further to the right, so he's a useful corrective.
Proper tea is theft.

Re: The most selfish generation? – politicalbetting.com
I am now 64 and looking to do at least another 3 years. I am lucky to be in good health (if more than a little overweight). As long as I remain healthy I prefer to work. Its fun, I feel I am contributing and it means that I am not drawing on my resources. Plus I find golf unbearably tedious, I am struggling to read as much these days, I have no obvious hobbies (other than maybe PB) and I am not sure what I would do with myself if I retired.I'm guessing that the pensioner gravy train will derail just before I reach retirement age.I am looking to retire when I hit 55 which is less than a decade away.
I’ve always worked on the assumption that I’ll never get a state pension.

This is the first season since 1935-36 - 90 years ago - that the Manchester United first team hasn't included a player who played at some point under either Sir Matt Busby or Sir Alex Ferguson.

Oh, dear.Islamist drone asassination attempt on Belgian Prime Minister foiled:Is this the first terrorist use of drones? A worrying development.

Although I'm led to believe there was a long-standing threat of aerial attacks in Belgium from hot-air Walloons.
