Re: Let’s party Number 10 style – politicalbetting.com
"Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle has told Sky News he is to call in police after claims that drug abuse is rife in the Houses of Parliament. Sir Lindsay is demanding a drugs crackdown - including sniffer dogs prowling the corridors - amid growing evidence of cannabis and cocaine being used openly. Allegations include a… -

Veteran journalist is putting it nicely. She is not connected to reality, Sandpit. She is anti-vax, said masks didn't work, said she was taking hydroxychloroquine to prevent COVID-19, was promoting ivermectin. This is all complete junk. She has repeatedly claimed election fraud against Trump and against herself that didn't… -

My house in London has been insulated, has had energy efficient windows put in & UFH. Plus solar panels on every available roof space. It is a typical late Victorian terraced property. Water is direct from the mains so there is no water tank in the attic. There is very little outside wall space - conservatory at the back -… -
Re: East Kilbride SNP MP defects to the Tories – politicalbetting.com
Its got nothing to do with what Thatcher did, the population was stable under Thatcher and had been stable for decades. Hence why prices were entirely affordable in the 1990s. The problem is rampant population growth which began under Blair, for which housing has not kept up. Nothing wrong with population growth if housing… -

Verona is nice, and has romantic associations. I really like Bologna, which is less than an hour away on the fast train, not too touristy or expensive, good food. The 62km (!) of arcades are apparently a UNESCO World Heritage Site https://www.bolognawelcome.com/en/information/unesco-porticoes-of-bologna-en Another hour by… -
Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Sean Fear – a great loss for the Tories and a great catch f
If I might say Avery for me the standout point has been the Labour position on this over the last couple of days. (Cameron can always say he's looking across the house for support given all the circumstances.) Labour going into Thursday's vote wanted conditions on military action but should those conditions be met was… -

Except that the upper middle class as a socio economic group and the over 50s overlap very considerably. Most of the nation's vast store of property wealth is held by the grey vote, as those who own outright or only have small balances left outstanding on their mortgages, and have made an absolute killing on the housing… -

"Bike thefts at stations 'decriminalised' The British Transport Police (BTP) says it will not investigate bike thefts outside stations where the bicycle has been left for more than two hours. It means most bike thefts will not be investigated and CCTV footage will not be looked at outside a two-hour timeframe."… -
Re: How Christmas could come early for Ed Davey – politicalbetting.com
As I know absolutely nothing about HS2, in terms of work that has already been done which will now be redundant, are there parts or works that can be repurposed. For example if there is a huge swathe of countryside that’s been cleared of trees and houses in preparation for the new tracks is it possible, desirable or useful… -

Re: Brexiteers should expect a lot more polling like this – politicalbetting.com
The sad reality about this is the complete lack of joined-up thinking. So many people are against new homes being built because they are being thrown up in places where no new infrastructure is added - no new roads, shops, schools, doctors surgeries. People are against these developments because they crowd everyone else.… -
Re: Reviewing 2023 – politicalbetting.com
I live in a new build estate, made entirely out of three and four bed homes. No "starter" one or two bed homes have been built, no flats. Literally every home on my road that has been sold is occupied. There's only one house on my street that's not been sold, and is thus unoccupied. The idea that estates are being built… -
Re: How much damage is Dorries doing to the Tory brand? – politicalbetting.com
I think the pandemic was quite an eye-opening moment for a lot of younger people - it exposed the fact that the state had been fully captured by the old, which has been transformed to the extent that almost every limb of the british state has been designed to maximise wealth transfer from the young to the old, from housing… -

I see SeanT's around, so reposting FPT (can you confirm seeing it?): This is for SeanT, though I'm not sure if he's around - he asked for info on Bhutan, and I promised to ask a friend who's familiar with the area. May be of interest to others: I've not been to Bhutan but it's culturally similar to Nepal . My advice would… -

As Adam Smith pointed out there is a lot of ruin in a nation but Russia has been on a very negative path for the best part of 3 years now. My own belief, supported by the falls in the Ruble, the collapse of the housing market, the insane level of interest rates and the damage being inflicted deep in Russia by Ukraine, is… -

No, it's because local authorities are responsible, and their funding has been cut over the hast decade, at the same time as central government has increased their legal responsibilities. It's been quite an effective political trick for the Conservatives (pioneered under Thatcher with council house sales) which has made… -

Four left in at Betfair: Clinton 1.215 Trump 5.75 Sanders 360 Pence 865 Trump has been holding his ground in the betting market for 2.5 weeks. If I were advising him, I'd say make some news, delivering preferably at least two punches - in connection say with foreign policy towards the Middle East and Russia - and look…
