Re: The China Peril – politicalbetting.com
Straight away. It’s a mirage. There is no conceivable scenario in which we would be able to fire it independent of the US. The US nuclear deterrent entirely covers everything that we could reasonably hope that our own would achieve. The mystery is why the Tory Brexiters, who would quite happily subjugate large areas of our… -

At its most basic, outside of any laws, everyone, supporter or opponent, knows that he considers himself more important than the Republic. In such a patriotic country I'm amazed how many are able to look past that (especially with his other flaws). The extent to which the political tribes despise one another is astonishing. -

I meant that cases fell as quickly as they had risen. Which suggests it was still the old strain, as it's currently not looking likely that our curve will look like that. Herd immunity also would look much more gradual. If it was the new strain though, we could take a lot of encouragement from that. -
Re: Both Trump and Biden stage Georgia rallies on the eve of today’s Georgia runoffs – politicalbetting.
My daughter was born at 06:32 so if she'd been born on 29th February she would just have kept all her birthdays on February 28th by your system when you account for the length of the Tropical Year more exactly being 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 45 seconds (though this changes, so I'm being unduly precise). -
Re: So it’s a 7 week lockdown for England – will this contain it at last? – politicalbetting.com
I think the answer to your question whether a 7-week lockdown for England will contain the virus is NO. I do however think that a 7-week lockdown for England would, if imposed on 11th Dec, have contained the virus is YES. [Before 11th Dec the Opposition had been urging the govt to act in response to rising infection… -
Re: The loneliness of the long-distance leader – politicalbetting.com
It's not just hospitality but retail and every other business closed and unable to trade. When restrictions are lifted and people rush to the shops and cafes and pubs and restaurants to do all the things they've been unable to do, they're going to find many of them gone for good. This economic bounce back that people / the… -
