Mad Nad... (quite possibly in contempt of Parliament, and therefore utterly unsuitable to be appointed to the Lords.) https://twitter.com/NadineDorries/status/1556182172016467969 If this witch hunt continues, it will be the most egregious abuse of power witnessed in Westminster. It will cast serious doubt not only on the… -

Well four hours in my polling station and it has been solidly raining for the past two hours. I didn't sit at the Assembly election but I was told it was significantly busier. Couple of younger voters turned up who are not registered. I think that might well happen more in England as many of the keyboard Momentum warriors… -

The public sector and private sector unions are increasingly divergent. One reason that unemployment did not rise much this recession is that private sector unions cooperated with wage restraint, reduced hours and even zero hours contracts. It is much easier to reverse all of these than to retrain someone who has been on… -

My ex (we have a nearly 20 year old son) has been this mad before. Now she is making all kinds of crazy legal threats which are frankly laughable. But she isn't taking no for an answer and wants more money for our "child" because any court would say what I have provided isn't sufficient for one in full-time education. Yes.… -

On the subject of premature or unexpected death, nearly six years ago my daughter, at 49, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. She and her husband had just reached 'full empty nest'; both offspring had graduated and were setting out on careers. She died some six months later; since then her husband has more or less… -
Re: Do Republican politicians even want to be Senators these days? – politicalbetting.com
Every night has been a party this week! I have been house sitting (farm sitting) for my parents and had an amazing week left in charge as the boss. My girlfriend is here too trying to work from home, though about 180 miles from home, and I was trying to improve the Wi-Fi and wiped it out altogether so she had to tether her… -

Another interesting one is the Parole hearing of Glyn Razell which should take place shortly. He has served 18 years for the murder of his ex-wife Linda even no body has ever been found. There were very strange circumstances which led to his conviction, books have been written about it, and the BBC made a 2 hour TV show.… -

Gardenwalker - I agree with your point about Wigan. On a bigger scale, I'd like to see the Northern Powerhouse - Liverpoll-Manchester-Leeds-Sheffield - compete with the Randstad and the Ruhr. We need better connectivity between our centres, and we need a better skilled workforce - but both of those are doable, within a… -

(Sorry - reckon blockquotes are confused) Except that her words are yanked out of context and (to be blunt) used dishonestly as a self-justification or a smear. Thatcher was attacking the idea that there exists some abstract "society" floating in mid-air that has responsibilities, and arguing that society is about real… -

No, he hasn't said that the list includes Fallin and Brewer. The names were put to him and he praised them. Not the same thing. What he has done is list some very sensible criteria, most importantly someone who knows how Washington works and has all the necessary contacts, and who is a fully-vetted elected politician. I do… -

I think you are seeing a conspiracy where there isn't one. The UK leadership has traditionally been very supportive on an open economy - it goes back to the days when we were global economic leaders and free trade was entirely rational, but it has remained a totemic principle (and I think it is right to do so - free trade… -

BREAKING NEWS The following SMS message has been sent to relatives: "Malaysia Airlines deeply regrets that we have to assume beyond any reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board survived. I wouldn't read too much into it to be honest. Santos was really embarrassing, even for a modern GOP member, his lies were so egregious and blatant. It is a seat that tends to have a democratic tilt and they really should not have lost it in the first place. The GOP management (and I use that word loosely) of the House has… -

Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » There’s no automaticity that the next Tory leader becomes Prim
The House might, however, support a caretaker PM in order to pass legislation avoiding no deal, prior to any election. Unlikely, certainly, but not impossible (and Bercow would accommodate any necessary procedural manoeuvrings). And as has been pointed out, an election is not guaranteed to resolve the current impasse.
