Re: Starmer’s big speech barely moves the betting markets – politicalbetting.com
I assume that there has been some compression: dirty or unsocial jobs used to demand a premium, with large numbers of immigrants available, they no longer do. But it would be nice to see actual evidence. Perhaps part of it is language — if the wage is £9 an hour at the abbatoir and £9 an hour on the checkouts at Tesco… -
Re: Will the Ayatollahs decide the US election? – politicalbetting.com
Pertinent, in light of what we've been discussing: Biden’s age-related infirmities were nothing compared to Republican nominee Donald Trump’s. Prone to stumbling over words and intermittently forgetful, Biden appeared unlikely to carry the burdens of the presidency for another term. Yet when confronted with political… -
Re: A little bit of history repeating? – politicalbetting.com
They probably wont. The last 5 years have been unfortunate years to be in government with three big hits Covid, cost of living and now Middle East. All of this has required almost war time management of the economy as the debt spiralled up. So maybe we should look at 1945 when the government did all the hard yards but lost… -
Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Why the Tory lead might be even larger than the polling implie
Despite the absence of polls over the past 24 hours, there has been a discernible drift away from Labour towards the Tories over the past 24 hours especially in the spread markets, where Spreadex go 158.5 seats for Labour and 392 for the Tories, compared with Sporting's 163 for Labour and 389 for the Tories. All mid-spread… -

https://appeal.org.uk/tv-licensing-faqs A sober advice page, but reading between the lines ... for instance " A TV Licensing Enforcement Officer must verbally caution you that anything you say to them may be used in evidence against you in court. If you have not been cautioned, any evidence gathered from that visit may be… -
Re: YouGov MRP poll in “red wall” seats finds CON to LAB swing of 4.5% – politicalbetting.com
What does that mean? Genuinely don't understand. Surely it could always record hours and hours of video if you had the storage? Or do you mean its battery can do that on one charge, or what? The new screen is properly beautiful. I've had my iPhone 11s for a while now, there has been a noticeable improvement in the… -

This has been repeated so often that people believe it must be true, but it's utter tosh. Her Lancaster House speech and the Article 50 letter were as clear as it is humanly possible to be clear, given that the nature of Brexit is not completely in our hands but will be the outcome of a negotiation. -

Re: Could Johnson really lose his seat? – politicalbetting.com
The underlying problem here is that policy on the private rented sector has been allowed to drift along with popular sentiment rather than facing reality. Unless the government act to incentivise people to rent out property (through tax breaks and deregulation), rents will continue to drift upwards due to constraints in… -

He apparently made the donation to the Dem cause after J6, which sounds quite anti-Trumpy But it's not much. He really DOESN'T seem to be especially political, unless he has some incredibly well-hidden online life I'm going to start a conspiracy theory, sorry, connytheers, all of my own, that takes into account what we… -

I cannot emphasis enough just what a pivotal role Ruth Davidson has played in the Better Together campaign. She has turned up time and again at various events, and she has been totally on top of her brief and big on the facts and risks of Independence. She is also an extremely passionate politician and a very savvy media… -
Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » The multi-million pound effort to manipulate LEAVE’s positi
Elections and referendums aren't like races in which you can say that this horse is leading by so much a mile from the finish and that horse is leading by so much at the last fence. Yet that is the view almost universally put forward by news purveyors, commentators and experts. Political news and analysis has been greatly… -

Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Why UKIP is set to damage Tories a lot more than LAB at GE2
I agree that German energy policy has led to electricity prices 60% above UK levels. I'm not convinced by your increasing ghg theory, given (a) nuclear shutdown has been a bigger impact and (b) ccgts are much more likely to act as backup for wind and solar because they don't take 8 hours to reach capacity. American coal… -
Re: Can Johnson survive the Tory LE2022 flop? – politicalbetting.com
As for politics - - V bad for the Tories. Boris should go but Tory MPs are too frit / complacent to force him out. If they did, they might have a fighting chance at the next GE. If they don't, they are looking at almost certain defeat. - Very good for the Lib Dems - despite having an uncharismatic and largely invisible…
