Re: This looks worrying for Number 10 and the Tories – politicalbetting.com
A number of republicans have been telling each other that the moment Charles became king the monarchy would explode because he would try and take over the world. Or something. Instead they are facing a King who has spent 50 years banging on about the environment, housing and minority community relations. -
Re: LAB extends lead in new “Red Wall” polling – politicalbetting.com
What is notable about the Red Wall polling is that it is limited to seats where there will be the usual bounce for a newly elected incumbent MP, which in the case of a useless MP may still happen but be less than normal. But that bounce is already discounted in this polling. The 26% Labour lead shown by R&W is net of any… -

That was the basis of Lord Docherty's decision in Scotland. An appeal has been contrived and should be heard by the Inner House (effectively the Court of Appeal) next month but the appeal will again be restricted to the question of whether this judicial review can even proceed to a substantive hearing. -

Before we even set off on the boat, loved the Patagonia National Park. The journey out from Ushuaia through the Drake Passage - the Roaring Forties and Fifties - was glassy smooth. No 40 foot waves for us. So much for the weather! We laugh at your fearsome reputation! Until we actually got to Antarctica... If you weren't… -

Walk away Brexit should be on the table, after the EU have banked May's Florence speech - and are still holding out their hands for more. As a professional negotiator, I would go into the next meeting with Barnier and say "I have here two press releases, to be issued in 24 hours. The one in this pocket says that due to the… -
Re: Punters largely staying with Trump in the WH2024 betting – politicalbetting.com
There are plenty of videos on youtube of these deserted, empty, towns. It is quite amszing and as the population falls there will be less and less demand for these properties. Evergrande has been on the brink for a while. Let's hope the lenders have had time to prepare for this as it cannot be a shock. Hopefully this won't… -
Re: As far as punters are concerned the Tories are strong odds-on to win the Batley and Spen by-election
Because, as TSE correctly points out, the link between hospitalisations and cases has been smashed (senior NHS execs have said the same thing) and all the vulnerable half of the population will have been double-vaxxed by the 21st. Nearly all have been already, apart from the small minority of refusers about whom we cannot… -

The reason list systems are crap is easy. That small number of us not in a political party don't want your list of has beens foisted on us. If for example I wanted to vote conservative but I want one of the mp's on the list but not the other to get in what the hell do I do? If I vote conservative I run the risk of electing… -
Re: Something does not add up – politicalbetting.com
Yes, they could do that. But if they were to, then the sanctions would remain, and they would become a slightly richer version of North Korea. A pariah state. One of the disappointments of this war has been India's position, which I think will do them few favours in the future. They've backed a horse half-heartedly, but… -

*betting post* White vs Itauma Itauma is the great, er, white hope coming up from the amateurs (24-0-0, 12KO) while Whyte is the old war horse with a dodgy chin (or rather, a dodgy habit of getting sparked out via upper cut). And yes he is looking good since he turned professional (12-0-0, 10KO) However, if you look at… -

"Far from the Madding Crowd" on BBC2 for those who do not give a tinker's cuss about Eurovision. Gorgeous day here today - as you can see below. I have been sitting in the sunshine designing my vegetable potager and other lovely garden matters. Daughter is in Greece having gone to Croatia first. Youngest son is joining her…
