Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Why I’ve resigned from the Conservative Party
ON THREAD As a totally tribal Liberal Democrat I genuinely feel sympathy for Richard. I am as committed to the ideals of my own party as he has been to his and although the Lib Dems test me occasionally, the bonds of friendship alone keep me on the campaign trail. However in the 6 hours that BoJo has been PM, this shuffle… -

There were many remainers that argued precisely that the EU would be vindictive in negotiations, to stop the risk of contagion. While there were many leavers arguing that BMW and Audi were going to tell Merkel the line to take, and that pure economic interest would mean they act responsibly. I still think there will be a… -

There are precious few under the age of 60 who've been down a pit. Leigh went Tory. Swathes of new house building all detached or semis with ample gardens have sprung up on what was previously derelict or grazing land. It is slowly developing into an outer commuting settlement for those who don't fancy City living. And has… -

All correct and to which I would add - the madness in the wholesale credit markets, the crazy proliferation of derivative structures, the explosion in value and volumes, the abdication from any semblance of prudent risk management. Root cause being the venal bonus culture on Wall St and in its slavish imitator, the City of… -
Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Who will win the first Presidential debate?
This has the potential to bugger up the T20 blast. Gloucestershire's Bob Willis Trophy game with Northamptonshire has been abandoned after a Northants squad member tested positive for Covid-19. The player was not part of the group that travelled to Bristol but had been in contact with other squad members within 48 hours of… -

As someone else wrote, what a way to start a Sunday morning! I wish Ms Cyclefree all the best; others in my circle are in a similar position and it's exceedingly worrying. However she is, compared with those in my circle, quite young and has therefore a reasonable chance of coming to a position where matters are going to… -

Last week I wondered whether this US election bottom of the ticket races might be driving voting, hence increasing turnout for the Presidential (which, given the nature of those bottom of the ticket races, would IMO be on balance bad news for Trump and good for Biden). There is some evidence of this happening in Texas:… -

I consider myself rich, though I keep it quiet. I have a nice house and, together with my wife, we can support a family of five. We can have days out when we want. When asked household income in surveys, it's always one of the top two boxes that gets ticked, which is a reasonable indication that most have a lot less. But… -

These money laundering rules are loopy. A lady up the road from me has lived in the same house since 1972. Now she wants to sell and move into something smaller, for that she needs a solicitor so she goes to see a local one. Certainly he says but I must make sure you are who you say you are and are not trying to launder… -

The polling companies did not do well polling for the recent GE. Perhaps, just perhaps, instead of this being a conspiracy, they want to try to get their house and techniques in order before releasing more VI info? VI involves a lot of corrections and assumptions about the data, as has been discussed on here many times…
