Re: A 15% lead would give LAB a majority of just 8 seats – politicalbetting.com
I believe that's the net inward migration figure you're quoting. The actual population increase will almost certainly be greater than that - in the most recently published set of mid-year population estimates, which are still currently those for mid-2020, births outnumbered deaths despite a huge wave of Covid fatalities.… -

Yes online was about 20% of retail, and that will have been boosted not dropped. Amazon has been growing at 20-30%. A quarter to a third of calories came from pubs and restaurants, which will have shifted to retail. People will have stocked up supplies, done diy, house improvements. Sounds about right to me. -

As for your first para, it was a two-way street. Collapse of Czarism under its own weight - not revolutionary activity - somewhat influences our post-1916 perception. As for second para, pretty much spot on. Though think that maybe SF has actually experienced a sea change. Much as MANY other movements and parties, from… -

@ Next OK let us examine how your principle works in practice , let us look at Acacia Avenue No 1 deemed to be over occupied by a 63 year old widower , he has to pay spare room subsidy or move to a smaller property . No 2 same size property but occupied by a 65 year old retired widower , he can stay and pays no spare room… -

North Shropshire By-Election Live Blog 9.22pm - No doubt the candidates will be starting to make their way over to the count by now. So with less than an hour to go until voting closes, let's have a quick run through the next phase of election day - the count. Once again, the election count will take place at Shrewsbury… -

I agree. There seem to be a lot of calls to try to use taxpayers money to keep the economy preserved as how it was in February this year indefinitely. But that world has gone, probably for good. Businesses will go bust, write-downs will happen, rents will fall, house prices will fall and eventually after this is all over… -

How many people use social media? And how many people pay all that much attention to political debate? My biggest bugbear is that media obsesses about special interest groups. When interest rates went up to 0.75% in August, the BBC had someone on the news who's mortgage was going to be a bit more expensive. We rarely hear… -

Is an Act required to ratify the WA though? AIUI a normal treaty can have its ratification vetoed by either House of Parliament passing a motion against ratification within three weeks of the treaty being laid before Parliament (the old Ponsonby rule made into statute by the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010).… -
Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Cyclefree on the perils of hubris
Betting against Trump has recently been a bad idea. He should be a million to one (in fact at least the world population to one- a random person would be better) to be US President. He is fantastically ill suited to the role. Worse still he's a bit thick. Nonetheless he has sailed his way almost to the White House itself.… -

Indeed - what she has written appears to completely ignore the UK legal context - as if the FTPA didn't exist and the government is clinging on against the will of the Commons - her argument that the only reason prorogation is not lawful is to avoid an election is in Johnson's favour! I'm not sure what sort of… -

Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Is there life after Brexit?
On topic I have for some months now been emphasising that this government has to be about far more than Brexit. The economy, in fairness, is going relatively well but not nearly enough is being done about housing, education, student debt, infrastructure, transport, all the real problems people worry about. Really every…
