I think this is very accurate commentary - though of course that may be because I agree with it anyway :smile: I don't think we can forget the lesson of 97. The economy had recovered and things were looking much more stable and well run after the events of 93/4. And yet The Tories got slaughtered. People have long memories… -

I am not sure what this sort of thing tells us now. There is a 1% chance that Truss leads the Conservatives to a 2024 election. There is maybe a 4% chance that Truss leads the Conservatives to an election at any other time. .The other 95% is deciding about her exit date. -

Is there a rule that when applied always tells you who the LOTO has been since, say, 1911? Frederick Pethick-Lawrence was LOTO in 1942 without being the leader of a party. Arthur Greenwood who took over from him and held the position until 1945 wasn't a party leader either. Nor was Herbert Morrison in 1955. Who decides?
