Re: Some interesting takeouts of the election in Scotland – politicalbetting.com
That may be the political reality of it. Take an example. Council Tax, aside from being regressive, has been in drift from reality for 30+ years. A rapid sorting out - removing the taper favouring more expensive properties, and a revaluation to deal with unequal house price rises on a local, regional and national level,… -

Because we would still be left with an extra 10 million population compared to 1990 largely due to immigration and since then housing and public services have not grown commensurate with the population growth. They haven't grown commensurate because a lot of that immigration has not been net contributors.....instead… -

Lock and load Red again manages to get on the wrong side of public opinion. The opposition leader with the record number of u-turns in the shortest period of time? I would also make the point that Labour has not faced a serious challenge in its heartlands since 1945. The Liberals re-emerged primarily in Conservative areas and re-established themselves in Conservative areas (albeit some with a previous Liberal tradition). Limited advances in Labour areas (Birmingham Ladywood) were… -

Re: Sturgeon blocks Trump’s reported plan to be in Scotland on Inauguration Day – politicalbetting.com
Lets hope they enact some constitutional reform, because the leader of the democratic free world has been a nutcase for the last four years and has shown how a US coup could easily be engineered if one party controlled both houses. They need a system that no longer assumes the people in the game are all 18th century… -

In the Old Town here, every house has a cellar designed to flood and hold rainwater. It's a relic of the days that the Rock was under regular siege from the Spanish. Mine has been converted into a wonderful wine cellar and man-cave. The idea that I needed to stock it with tinned sardines and distilled water for some Trump… -

I have a feeling that Corbyn is going to pick up the gun he shot himself in the foot with yesterday, and direct towards the other foot. Can he be trusted to criticise Russia. I’ve still had no-one direct me to somewhere he has written in support of Israel. He stated in the House that he has but I ve been unable to find… -

Dodgy solicitor claims ‘kindness’ led her to exploit elderly client A solicitor has been struck off for facilitating a house sale for an elderly client at £250,000 below its market value, in order to sell it to her own civil partner. I was talking to a school mum this morning after my daughter’s sleepover. She’s a teacher and has been getting trained on all sorts of AI. Got it to “do” the party activities last night, including the kids cocktail recipes and all the art work - 5 minutes. That sort of thing would have taken hours before. And AI supported… -

Off-Topic I am a bit surprised to discover (from reports yesterday) that David McGreavy has not been given a whole-life tariff for his crimes. He was originally (in 1973) given a minimum tariff of 20 years, but his crimes were so serious that - in comparison with other similar cases - it would have been reasonable for his… -

Again: If a worker works on £5 worth of raw materials for one hour (anbd does nothing else), and after that hour's work the raw materials have been transformed into goods worth £10, what do you think the maximum economic value of the hour's work is? How much value has the worker created? Surely not a difficult, or trick,… -

Ten minutes? What the fuck are you smoking? Are you seriously suggesting you can get from Dolgellau to Aberystwyth in 10 minutes? Even Max Verstappen couldn't do that in an F1 car! Where would you place 'Help to Buy' politics wise ? Left or ring wing ? It is not something I would have though a Conservative goverment would have introduced. I grew up near Exeter, in a village near Pinhoe in fact. Exeter as a whole has changed a lot since then. It's more affluent and more 'hipster'.
