Re: LAB hot favourites in local election betting – politicalbetting.com
It does not matter to me as it is a small amount of my income , however in principle it should have been paid, their knee jerk reaction has been proven to be wrong given how dire position now is for people on pension in general. These clowns have no principles and are immoral jerks. PLenty of poor older people also paying… -

Re: YouGov has Truss 3% behind Starmer as “best PM” – politicalbetting.com
A plumber who did some work for us talked about combined air-source heat pump/oil boilers for older rural properties like ours. The idea is a constant level of heating from the air source and when needed the oil kicks in. I guess a bit like hybrid cars. My relatives in Scotland had a new house built with ground source… -

Does a favourable reference include crawling up the devil's arse? 't was an experience of great interest to me to meet Premier Stalin ... It is very fortunate for Russia in her agony to have this great rugged war chief at her head. He is a man of massive outstanding personality, suited to the sombre and stormy times in… -

Suicide is always tragic, but occurred at the time of her own involvement in a political scandal, a week after news broke about how Jenrick intervened in a planning application by the Jockey Club. It was a week after this broke: "Rose Paterson's death came as she became embroiled in a planning row alongside housing… -

From a post last night 'What has been seen in Belgium today is a fraction of what is going on in terms of suppression and interdiction activities by Western European agencies in the last 48 hours and will continue. In reality for Belgium its about time something direct has been done like this, the country has, in scale… -
Re: The next G20 leader to leave – politicalbetting.com
Its easier to think it shouldn't if you're OK with it being permanently rigged in favour of the GOP. Just like you're quite happy to see DC voters denied Statehood. In the last thread you said that if the legislation was changed (which is entirely within Congress and the President's remit and authority) then it would… -

She will ask for the rent to be waived while the business is closed or reduced by the same percentage as turnover has been reduced if it reopens. But if the landlord won’t be accommodating then he will be getting no rent at all. Fat chance of getting a replacement tenant these days. Or of selling an empty property. Even… -
Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » The Tories and LDs doing better than the polls on the Projecte
I’d say avoiding the election is a ship which has already sailed. Many ministers up to and including May have been talking about “before October” for a week or two. The EU won’t accept a election cancellation unless there’s absolutely no way back, so that has to mean legislation passed. I’m not sure whether that’s… -
Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » We have the first poll with Trump leading Clinton
Trump's appeal is pretty basic. It's a reaction to almost 7 years of the Obama administration, whose policies now have almost 3 out of 4 Americans saying they think the country is headed in the wrong direction. In addition they gave Republicans control of the Senate last year. Even they understood that the vote was not so… -
Re: Labour’s paths to victory: the choices of Sir Keir Starmer – politicalbetting.com
What we have actually been seeing is the opposite - older people have been selling up (or keeping their old home for letting) and moving out, and London has been getting younger as the rooms in what was formerly a family house are occupied by one person in each. The relationship between voting and age is much stronger than… -

Quite possible the french and german's have an unofficial policy of encouraging selected migrants to apply. IE those with skills and discourage the rest. Not saying they do but I would be able to see the attraction then encourage the others to go to calais etc. In the talk of migrants in the last thread I did notice one… -

Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Analysing Labour’s rise in the polls
While I'm not denying it looks like a U-turn, the central part of the policy, that the house is included in the calculation of social care costs, has been retained. All that has changed is there is a nebulous commitment to a cap, which will no doubt be selected to have minimal impact on the exchequer. -

I don't cook - I have never cooked. If a recipe says to separate the eggs I make two piles. I have a kitchen - I know I do because it has a pantry where I keep Heidi's food, and a large range which has never been used but is a good place to store trays etc. But as a husband and father (in that order - no whiff of scandal… -

Evening all :) My first chance to comment on the proposals to "transform" the railways. I used to travel by train 3-4 times per week before the pandemic, for both business and pleasure. The business model for train companies, based on high-earning sardine trains morning and evening, has been demolished and while it's worth… -

A bigger impact, IMHO, would come from a rising savings rate thanks to lower house prices. I'm also not sure there is much hard evidence that a falling exchange rate actually benefits exports that much. The Euro has been much stronger than Sterling in the post 2008 period - from 2.10 to 1.33 for the Pound, versus 1.40 to…
