Ed Miliband has privately suggested to Sir Keir Starmer that he should consider setting out a timeline for his departure amid concerns he will be forced out of No 10 in the wake of the election results, The Times has been told.

Miliband is viewed by allies as a “kingmaker” to a potential run for the leadership by Andy Burnham. Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, is understood to have told supporters in recent days that a backbench MP is willing to stand down as soon as this weekend to facilitate his return to Westminster.
If a contest is triggered by Ange/Wes he simply doesn’t have time to get back into the Commons.
Very on brand for Burnham
Election rules mean I can’t say much on polling day, but I can say this.
Tomorrow STV's scheduled Scottish election programme from 5pm will be replaced by an episode of quiz show, The Chase, as staff go on strike over a decision to freeze salaries.
Please don’t make Prince William happy tonight.
He needs to stay humble.

Obligatory election night coverage post: if you’re at a count and want to known who’s won before anyone else, just find the slightly odd Lib Dem activist who has a spreadsheet, they always know the result first.
Wife shrieked when she realised she had three votes........
Partly because he will be a bad choice for Labour but mainly because of the terrible strain it will put your legendary modesty under.
This picture is why I love Prince Harry and hate Prince William, this is their reaction when Wales beat England at the rugby.

I do think one of Starmer's problems is that his roots in the political Labour party are not deep and he has no natural faction. Ed Balls, on his podcast talked about how Starmer's lack of political background might come back to get him and I think he might be right.
Confused. You will be.

If Palace wins the conference , they will get in the Europa.

A Top 4/5 club winning a Cup does not award the country an extra spot.
We would get 6 if Villa win the Europa Cup and finish outside the Top 5.
See: Spurs last season. Finished 18th, won the Cup, got Champions League football as a bonus club.
Club outside qualification getting it anyway due to the Cup, so a bonus spot, I get.
Club 5th getting it so 6th gets it too . . . that's just weird.
Burnham being a self-important c*ck is probably a polling advantage, it certainly seemed to do wonders for the Lib Dem elected to be the local MP against far more likeable candidates on both sides, and maybe it is time a Northerner got a go at f***ing things up.
Internet tells me the last mancunian was Lloyd George, last northerner Wilson
West Ham should sue.
Ed Miliband has told Keir Starmer to plan his resignation, according to reports.
But will he actually wield the knife post locals?

Team Ed responds!
Ed spokesperson: "We do not comment on private conversations but we do not accept this account.
“Ed has always supported the Prime Minister and continues to do so as he delivers on his mandate for change."
Then winning the Europa League gets a place, then the bonus spot for.
So Villa in fifth place but Europa League winners supersedes the bonus spot.
There’s skullduggery at play here, m’lud.

Starmer's plan to pick Labour back up after the elections:
*pivot from 'hero voters' to 'progressive block'
*more action on defence and environment
*drop the technocratic tone
