I gather international law is one of the things that the PB Thatcher cargo cultists think can be discarded.
Peter Oborne @OborneTweets · 7h When Israel attacked an Iraqi nuclear reactor ("Operation Babylon") Maggie Thatcher charged Israel with a "grave breach of international law." She added: "I uphold international law. Once we go away from that, we shall not know where we are." Here Badenoch endorsing war crime.
Keir Starmer has used the conflict in the Middle East to sneak out yet another ministerial resignation. Another time he’s lacked the backbone to sack a minister who was obviously in the wrong.
Simons was in charge of a group that deliberately smeared journalists, even using a journalist’s Jewish faith to call him into question. Labour hasn’t changed.

Their former staff members are in positions of influence across Government, including as civil servants. Simons has resigned so it’s clear Labour Together is utterly finished as an organisation. Keir Starmer must tell us immediately if he will now end Labour Together’s links with his government and return the tainted money they’ve donated.

This is why responsible leaders treat war as a last resort.
Or alternatively the Iranian regime murders circa 30k of its own citizens (of all ages) 3 weeks following the protests, and we worry about sub-100 when trying to destroy the regime that murders 30k
Back to the Eddie Izzard comment. We’re fine with regimes killing THEIR OWN people. When we try and help and ACCIDENTALLY kill a small number (relatively) of people then somehow we’re the bad guys? Come on.
I wonder how many US citizen casualties Trump would accept to prevent being deposed by an internal rebellion?
No idea. Purely hypothetical. What we do know is tens of thousands have been brutally murdered in Iran.
It’s brilliant and you’re trying to be clever. But Trump Isn’t as bad as Iran no matter how you try and spin it.

I can't entirely condemn Trump for his actions in Iran, but I certainly don't support them. I rather wonder quite what I'll make of his (lets hope) grand victory, and what also would I make of his humiliating defeat. I can only conclude that Trump exists in a sort of Schrodinger bubble.
Trump doesn't appear to be at all bothered by essentially the same people running Venezuela. Capturing Maduro and getting US hands on their oil seems to be a victory in his book, the lives of the people that live in the country do not matter at all to Trump.
I think Trump would call his war in Iran a victory if the regime is toppled, even if it led to a civil war where many innocents die. I do not for a momement believe that Donald Trump is bothered what happens to ordinary Iranian citizens.
He will think it a success even if it's civil war, millions dead, and we end up with an even worse regime than before. He cares nothing for civilians and, given the chance, I'm sure he's capable of killing US protestors at the same scale - don't forget the "terrorists" of Minnesota.
It's all about ratings for him - and he's got some stunning ones for this little enterprise. Just because this isolated outcome aligns with what most of us want doesn't mean we most align ourselves with him.
What’s not impressive is how weak Starmer now looks. I thought he was meant to be good at this international politics stuff
Potential Labour to Green voters couldn't care less if the Ayatollah is dead. For them it would still be a killing by an evil Trump and Netanyahu strike force so politically Starmer had to remain muted in support of their attack

There are nuances to this debate but it doesn't help that people like BartholomewRoberts and ozymandias are just so blase about it. Sure, there are terrible costs to even a just conflict - e.g. Argentine conscripts during the Falklands. But we should remember to regret it.
If a side effect of this is a millions-dead civil war, mass migration, a new dictatorship in Iran, and a huge oil shock that cripples the world economy, I'm not sure killing the Ayatollah was worse it tbh. I think that's more likely than a liberal democracy.
(70,000 dead in Gaza is the IDF figure btw. So those claiming the Hamas figure of 50,000 was a big lie look just a wee bit silly now).

When I knew that violent regimes such as the one you’re defending (or at least saying we should leave alone) kill children with impunity anyway. And they do. And we conveniently ignore that fact.
But when someone actually DOES SOMETHING that may end that, the ones wanting to end it are cast as greater villains than the ones they’re trying to stop. This is only logical in left wing politics and world view - where hatred of the West (which has allowed their opinions on the first place) is the primary and only concern.
Yet when I mentioned Gaza, where tens of thousands of children were killed, you appeared not to give a flying fuck.
So it's all just bullshit, isn't it.
I don’t believe that figure so it’s meaningless.
Seems it’s pulled out of a leftwing blogs arse.
That's a very odd comment. I don't know what to say. We'd best leave it.
Yup. Better for you to contemplate in your echo chamber, close to your safe space.
While you stay in your atrocity denial space. Fair enough.

So STFU.
Starmer: "This is divisive, sectarian extremism!"

What’s not impressive is how weak Starmer now looks. I thought he was meant to be good at this international politics stuff
Ref 30 (-1)
Con 18 (+2)
Lab 18 (-5)
Grn 13 (=)
LD 12 (+2)
Badenoch keads Starmer by 2 on best PM, Farage leads Starmer by 4
It’s brilliant and you’re trying to be clever. But Trump
Isn’t as bad as Iran no matter how you try and spin it.
Anyone got Interlfora’s number for the usual suspects.

Theres also data on switchimg and tacticals which shows some Ref Con and some Lab Green potential
Reform 394, Lib Dem’s 60, Greens 52, Con 44, Lab 29.
But [regime] decapitation does appear to be part of Trump's negotiating handbook, so it is plausible.
It's all about ratings for him - and he's got some stunning ones for this little enterprise. Just because this isolated outcome aligns with what most of us want doesn't mean we most align ourselves with him.
Polanksi 22, Davey 21, and Sir Keir 15... no one likes him

This has an overwhelming Principlist (conservative, extremist) majority.
Not much of a chance they'll appoint anyone more palatable.
Fron Racist Frank Hester for racial abuse at Diane Abbott.
The Tories didn't give a penny back

They have no idea who is fifth in line. And whether that person wants a big target on their back.
Should Kemi Badenoch resign? 39-23 No
Not some random Poll.
Wait til next week when Farage and Kemi feel the backlash as war mongers
Real Votes worst Tory performance in history
If a side effect of this is a millions-dead civil war, mass migration, a new dictatorship in Iran, and a huge oil shock that cripples the world economy, I'm not sure killing the Ayatollah was worse it tbh. I think that's more likely than a liberal democracy.
(70,000 dead in Gaza is the IDF figure btw. So those claiming the Hamas figure of 50,000 was a big lie look just a wee bit silly now).
Quite pathetic really
You really need to start playing the ball
b) how many are alive?
c) and for how much longer?
If Israel and the USA have got Khameini then that is superb. Need to ensure the whole rotten edifice he built collapses though.
Trump looks decrepit in Situation Room photos just released.

Look. These things happen mate. And relationships and developing relationships are hard. Very hard. Maybe unlike you.
But move on. There’s a wonderous world of women both left and right wing you can connect with.
Park your frustration. Let it subside. Chill. There’s someone out there for you. Breathe.
Israel does have human sources in Iran but how high they are to be privy to this kind of evidence, we aren't going to know.
Calm down
bomb stuff -- ??? -- regime change
Not like blinkered bots like you.
Jesus
You really don't like it up you do you?

Be a shame if the Assembly were to have a rapid, uncontrolled disassembly.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL....
For the Iranian regime, but absolutely nobody else. Possibly not even for them.
Have you actually read some of the crap you have written Tory boys

Rip Tory Party 2026
That's if such a picture exists, there are other ways of verifying a possible death.
I ain't Tim
You're not even warm!
An eye for an eye.
Good work.
Thats why our PM is being cautious and not putting our lives at as much risk as if we'd joined in.
I fear we will see reprisals here, won't Farage and Kemi look fucking stupid then.
Yeah that's the same.
Keep guessing freezing cold
A new leader with the same basic policy platform but more communication skills will do better.
