Lads at the pub said, "Why are you off home so early?" Girls at home (watching Paddington, drinking gin) said, "How come you're back so soon?" I know it's for the best, but that only leaves PB for entertainment. Glad you are here, PB :-)
Personally, I have had a hell of a day with my close family caring duties and am tucking into a glass or three of red and flicking through the thread.
I did win on the Gold Cup though.

As polls go this latest one from EKOS in Canada is astonishing .
LPC 49.5
CPC 31.8
The NDP are only on 8 in that poll which seems too low .
EKOS has been quite a friendly pollster in recent months for the Libs but did have the Conservatives ahead by 25 points in December .
Several new polls are out and do all show a bump in the polls for the LPC . The latest EKOS though seems very wild but alarm bells will be going off in the Poilievre camp .0 -

And I hate to sound like a stuck record about it, but not nearly enough is being made by the media, in the U.S., or here, of the explicit record of figures like Thiel against democracy, and their key rolele in bringing together this administration. You can't fight against what you don't know.1 -

Musk morning indicated that Judicial "reform" was essential
Trump said earlier today that CNN and MSNBC were acting illegally by broadcasting so much criticism of him.
His commerce security indicated yesterday that they were thinking of abolishing social security.
The Repiblicans in Congress are proposing new legislation against the Courts.
It's not looking good, and only Sanders is mobilising a large number of people against this.1 -

Main Street also has a Carney bounce but the Liberals only ahead 38% to 36% for the Conservatives

Ignore that EKOS and include the others and the turnaround in Liberal fortunes is still pretty extraordinary. And Mark Carney just cancelled the carbon tax which was a divisive issue and which Poilievre had as a big part of his campaign .Andy_JS said:

A lot depends on whether the GOP keep the filibuster especially pertinent in relation to the SAVE act which should really be called the voter suppression act . Voters had plenty of warning but chose to ignore what was in front of them or didn’t care .WhisperingOracle said:

Not really because people are getting what they voted for when they elected Trump, Musk, etc. Carney, on the other hand, is PM without having a seat in parliament.TimS said:By the way are we all at the acceptance stage of “USA is turning into a dictatorship” yet or is the jury still out for some?

And I hope they get it good and hard. It seems only immense suffering might bring some to their senses. I’ve lost count of the amount of people now whining that Trump has screwed them , they thought that the bad things would happen to others and were cheering it on so they can do one now !Andy_JS said:

Trump voters wanted tariffs on imports, deportation of immigrants, spending funds at home not on foreign wars. They got what they voted for. Democrats who opposed those policies and Trump will have to hope the economy takes a hit and prices rise before the next electionsnico67 said:

Not sure tax cuts that favour the richest and gutting of federal agencies are quite what they wanted but I hope the poor who voted Trump and relied on food stamps are happy to now be rummaging in bins to survive !HYUFD said:

Sadly Canadian railways are rather less sibsidised than Amtrak. Actual money is required. On Amtrak you can do New York to LA in a seat for about $250. If you can stand it.RochdalePioneers said:
