Have I missed anything interesting? Positive for the coalition there. Its only by elections though so who knows? Can we consider an increase in a by election for the cons of 2% in a labour controlled seat ....tipping point
:-)

That is all.
St James is in Ed Davey's seat but has always been a strong Conservative Ward. Occasionally, a Lib Dem has got elected in the 3-member ward as happened in 2006 but in 2010 the three Conservatives got 42% and the three Liberal Democrats 34% on a day when Ed Davey held the Kingston & Surbiton seat.
In May this year, the Conservatives got 42% and the Liberal Democrats 26% so yesterday's result was steady for the Conservatives with a small swing to the LDs back to their 2010 numbers. Hard to derive too much from this except to say that K&S is going to be a hard-fought battle between the Coalition parties in the next four and a bit months.
Another weak result for UKIP in this part of London - 10% in Tudor and now 8% here. Labour down a little from May as well.
But he is still the PCC.
Screaming Lord Such must be spinning in his grave
As time goes on and UKIP remain stubbornly at 500% higher than their 2010 standing in the polls it is starting to remind me of this.

Just saw on Twitter that there were 279 council by-elections this year and this was the overall result:
Britain Elects @britainelects
Council by-election tally 2014:
CON: 95 (-10)
LAB: 93 (-)
LDEM: 28 (+6)
UKIP: 17 (+10)
GRN: 7 (+3)
SNP: 6 (-)
PC: 2 (+1)
OTH: 23 (-10)
The Tories retained 78-77 and gained 17-16 more wards over the year than Labour though we did lose 11 more wards but not to the overall benefit of Labour. This is hardly the sign of an opposition poised to take the country in May.
You're just picking an arbitrary start year to make whatever obscure point you're trying to make.
Kippers do seem to be increasingly following the grand traditions (and rulebook) of the University of Wolloomalloo Philosophy dept:

@SenRandPaul 'The United States trades and engages with other communist nations, such as China and Vietnam. So @marcorubio why not Cuba?'
I am, by the way, a natural tory and will almost certainly vote tory in May. I certainly wouldn't let someone like you influence that decision, but do you in general think that being as dim, odious and repetitive as you are advances the cause of your party?
as being out this past week will now (as I understand it) be released on Monday?
These things worry me.
It joins Johannesburg, New Orleans and Wellington on the list, described by the firm as "a comprehensive and reliable rundown of the best places to travel in 2015".
Birmingham was described as having cultural variety, excellent shopping and a buzzing live music scene.
It is the only UK location on the list, which does not rank the chosen cities."

I've been reading in The Daily Telegraph about her friendship with Margaret Thatcher and this generous tribute from Andrew Lloyd-Webber:
"I am deeply sad to hear the news regarding Mandy. I would have written the musical Stephen Ward five times over just to have met this life enhancing woman.
"Mandy was enormously well-read and intelligent. I will always remember discussing with her over dinner subjects as varied as Thomas Cromwell's dissolution of the monasteries and the influence of the artist Stanley Spencer on Lucian Freud.
"With a different throw of the dice, Mandy might have been head of the Royal Academy or even running the country. She became a dear friend and I will miss her."
Pah! Liverpool has FOUR million, including Gutenbergs, Caxtons and a copy of Audabon's Birds of America alone worth £8m...
And of course, the entire public library system has its origins in Liverpool.
Bwhaha.. I wonder if they did this in purpose. To be fair, they are integral parts of French territory, with representation in the French parliament.
I suffer from a similar calculation; overseas student loan repayments are based on the average cost of living in a particular country, and I just happen to live in one of the most expensive cities in the US. Argh.
"The swing in Notts was 3% from Lab to Con from 2013 but 12% from Con to Lab since 2009"
Are you trying to make the sage of Scottish politics Easterross look ridiculous?
Can;t make up my mind whether The Inbetweeners 2 or Paddington will get best film.
